Punters are expecting Pope Francis to draw an audience of over one million people to the city of Dublin after confirming he will visit Ireland in August.
The pontiff has two items on his agenda with the Festival of Families at Croke Park as well as a celebration of Mass in Phoenix Park
It’s 3/1 that the attendance over both venues breaks the 1.5 million barrier.
Pope John Paul II drew crowds of over 2.5 million during his trip to the country in 1979 which included stops in Drogheda, Galway and Limerick as well as the capital.
There has been no announcement about a visit to Northern Ireland during the trip but the Pope is 4/1 to travel across the border after the Bishop of Derry said he is ‘very keen that it could still be considered'.
