The Amorim era is upon us and it commenced in rip-roaring fashion with an early 2nd minute Rashford goal at the weekend. However, that was as good as it got with Hutchinson’s deflected strike in the 43rd minute meaning the spoils had to be shared. While little can be gleaned from a one-off first game in charge it was somewhat concerning that Ipswich matched their total of 11 shots and doing so with only 40% of possession though teething issues with the 3-4-3 system is to be expected.
Their Europa League campaign has been underwhelming thus far albeit they remain undefeated. They opened the league phase with three successive draws coming in 1-1 against Twente, 3-3 against Porto and 1-1 against Fenerbache. However, they did get a much-needed victory last time out with an Amad brace giving them a 2-0 win over PAOK.
This is a game on paper that United shouldn’t be struggling with regardless of system and personnel.
