A Lotto punter in Dublin made it a weekend to remember when they turned a simple €3 bet into more than €11,000 on Saturday evening.
The punter, who wishes to remain anonymous, placed the lucky wager in a BoyleSports shop in Dublin but can’t have been banking on a return when faced with mammoth odds of 3800/1.
The customer picked numbers 2, 12, 22 and 24 to be drawn from seven numbers in the main Irish Lotto draw, but didn’t even have to rely on the bonus ball as all four dropped out within the first six numbers drawn.
Four numbers would only have paid €50 had they been placed at the local newsagents, however with the €3 stake returned, the Dubliner walked out of the BoyleSports store with a grand total of €11,403.
The win meant BoyleSports’ weekly Lotto payouts burst through the €200,000 mark after two customers from Dublin and Waterford won bets worth €165,000 and €33,000 respectively on Tuesday night’s EuroMillions draw.
Another Dub took us for €165,000 from a fiver bet in Tuesday night’s EuroMillions and Lotto bets have now cost us over €200,000 this week alone...
But we have to say bravo to the latest Dublin winner who wasn’t phased by the 3800/1 odds for four numbers and scooped so much money for only three quid.
