The Arsenal manager situation is quite interesting at the moment.
Allegri or Enrique?
The main two candidates that are being discussed are Massimiliano Allegri and Luis Enrique. Allegri at Juventus has done a terrific job particularly domestically.
He took over from Antonio Conte at what seemed to be a difficult time for the team and he’s taken them to the next level. He’s developed a real attacking brand of football as well as that steel and defensive mentality that they’ve got.
I think he’d certainly enhance Arsenal if he was to go in there and he is due for contract talks at Juventus so I’m sure that’s something that Arsenal will be monitoring.
Luis Enrique is free, he has not taken a job since leaving Barcelona where he did an excellent job particularly adapting the style of play after Pep Guardiola left and was very successful so I’m sure he would be appealing to Gunners supporters.
Another one who has been mentioned is Mikel Arteta who played for Arsenal and is currently on the backroom staff at Manchester City. With no real management experience I feel it would be a massive ask for him to go in and take over. I’m sure it’s a job that he would want but I’m not sure he would be right for it.
...which is what’s needed after years of decline.
Arsene Wenger has been great for Arsenal and great for the Premier League but I think the time was right for him to move on and a new manager to come in and bring the club forward.
Stoke’s relegation woes
Stoke City’s relegation at the weekend has been coming. It’s been a bad season for them after Mark Hughes had come in and taken them to the next level but this season they’ve been lacking. It’s interesting to see players like Jack Butland questioning the recruitment team.
Charlie Adam has been questioning a lot of the players, not only over the last 24 hours or so but throughout the season; questioning their professionalism and how they’ve been getting away with so much at the club.
There’s been something seriously lacking at the club not just on the pitch but off it as well and they need to regroup.
Their wages are sky-high, will the players take a pay-cut to stay there? It looks like Paul Lambert will stay on, although the team hasn’t gotten a bump or a change in fortunes since he took over. They need to regroup and refocus and concentrate simply on getting back into the Premier League next season.
Get well soon Sir Alex
No matter what club you support I’m convinced that everyone who’s watched football over the years, that’s watched the great sides that Sir Alex Ferguson has produced will be right behind him. I certainly wish him a speedy recovery and hope he returns to full health.
I’m sure that will be echoed throughout the world of football. Hopefully he will be back on his feet and back to Old Trafford watching games in the not too distant future.

Allegri or Enrique would both be big appointments; both would be excellent and both would bring a different mentality into the Emirates""
