BoyleSports are reporting that Leo Varadkar has been heavily backed to remain as Taoiseach after the next Irish General Election following the publication of the latest opinion poll results.

The Kantar Millward Brown poll in the Sunday Independent revealed a widening gap between Ireland’s two main parties, with Fine Gael racing 8 points clear of opponents Fianna Fáil at 36%.

With the poll also showing an increased personal rating for Varadkar, putting him 10 points clear of Micheal Martin..

Fine Gael are now 8/15 from 4/6 to win most seats at the next Election, which punters are still expecting to take place before the end of 2018 at 4/7.

Mary Lou McDonald’s personal popularity is up to 39% after her Late Late Show appearance at the weekend, and Sinn Féin have moved into 5/1 from 6/1 to form a Government in coalition with Fianna Fáil the next time the country goes to the polls.
