Team | Odds | Chance |
---|---|---|
Dublin | 1/10 | 90.9% |
Tyrone | 13/2 | 13.3% |
Draw | 14/1 | 6.7% |
Dublin are 1/10 favourites to land their 5th victory of this year’s National League and in the process secure a place in the National League Final.
Tyrone are massive underdogs in this one at 13/2 which takes into account that they have nothing to play for here and will have thoughts already turning to the Ulster Championship.
The draw is seen as an unlikely proposition at big odds of 14/1.

Dublin v Tyrone Preview
Dublin’s Form
Dublin entered the 2024 season following a 2023 season which saw them finish runner-up during the round-robin stage of Division 2 of the National Football League with a record of 6 wins and 1 loss. That league finish earned them promotion to Division 1 but more success was to follow with their Division 2 final victory against Derry by a score of 0-11 to 4-06.
Dublin took that form into the Leinster Championship where they won three rounds to reach the final against Louth. They then overcame the Wee County in the decider on a scoreline of 5-21 to 0-15.
In the All-Ireland, they won Group 3 with Kildare, Roscommon and Sligo thanks to their 2 wins and 1 draw. That saw them qualify for the Quarter-Final where they beat old foes Mayo 2-17 to 0-11. Monaghan gave them a fright but a flurry of late scores put the game beyond doubt to earn the Dubs their first All-Ireland Final appearance since 2020.
2022 champions Kerry were the opposition in the final but Dublin proved too good as they beat The Kingdom 1-15 to 1-13 to lift Sam Maguire.
Dublin commenced their 2024 league campaign slowly with defeats coming 1-14 to 3-09 against Monaghan and a 1-12 to 0-14 defeat to Mayo. However, they’ve since won their last 4 games to catapult themselves to 2nd place on the table and in contention for the NFL Final.
Dublin’s Path to the Division 1 National League Final
Dublin have the head-to-head tiebreaker after beating Kerry earlier in this season’s league. As a result, they are guaranteed a spot in the league decider with a win here against Tyrone.
A draw would also be enough for Dublin if Kerry lose or draw against Galway.
Dublin would still progress to the final with a loss provided that Kerry also lose.
If Dublin win, Kerry win and Derry lose then the 3 teams would be level on 10 points. In this case, Dublin would go through on points difference as Dublin already have a better points difference than Derry meaning that a Dublin win and Derry loss would mean they maintain their superior points difference.
Tyrone’s Form
Tyrone came into this 2024 campaign following a season last year which saw them finish 4th in Division 1 with 4 victories and 3 defeats.
They were eliminated in the Ulster Football Championship at the first hurdle losing 1-18 to 2-17 against Monaghan in the Quarter-Finals. They finished 3rd in their All-Ireland Series group, behind Armagh and Galway and ahead of Westmeath.
Tyrone would then beat rivals Donegal in the preliminary Quarter-Finals before they were knocked out at the Quarter-Final stage by Kerry in a 2-17 to 0-12 scoreline.
Tyrone have been a mixed bag in Division 1 this season, they commenced their 1 campaign with a 0-17 to 1-11 victory against Roscommon. However, Derry proved to be a much sterner test in Round 2 with Derry running out 1-12 to 0-09 victors against them. That hit-and-miss form continued with a loss against Galway, a win against Mayo, a loss against Kerry and a victory against Monaghan 1-19 to 2-13 last weekend.

Key Players To Watch
Con O’Callaghan
Arguably the most talented dual player in the country, the Dublin Hurlers' loss is very much the gain of the footballers with the Cuala man able to mix it in both codes.
He is the county’s top-scorer in the league so far with a total of 3-25 (34 points) from the first 6 matches. He will likely be their go-to man come Sunday again.
Darragh Canavan
The corner forward who plays his club GAA with Errigal Ciarán is his county's primary scoring threat having amassed a total of 2-26 (32 points) from Tyrone’s first 6 league matches so far this season.
Last weekend he proved the difference maker for Tyrone hitting 1-07 in their 1-19 to 2-13 victory against Monaghan. He is listed on the bench for this game although it is possible that there is a late change made before throw-in but the Red Hand County could also have incentive to rest Canavan with nothing to be gained from this game for them.
Dublin v Tyrone Prediction & Best Bet
Prediction: Dublin 2-16 Tyrone 0-15
Dublin have very much put the opening two league defeats behind them and look very much on course to reach the NFL final barring a disaster on Sunday.
Tyrone find themselves in very much mid-table purgatory, out of contention for qualifying for the final but clear of relegation. That gives them a free hit in this game as they prepare for the rest of the season.
Dublin should be comfortable winners here.
Best Bet: Con O’Callaghan First Goalscorer @ 3/1
