The Rock & Roman Reigns (The Bloodline) @ 2/9 v Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins @ 3/1

There has been plenty made of The Rock's return to WWE and him taking a coveted WrestleMania spot from a full-time wrestler. However, such is his legacy for his exploits in Hollywood and Business that he is now better known for his time outside of WWE!

Nobody quite transcends the sport like he does and with him now on the Board of Directors for the company, he was always going to try and maximise his value to the product, returning for WrestleMania 40 in the hope of attracting new eyes to the product.

While it remains to be seen how good a 51-year-old Rock can be in the ring, 11 years on from his last match in the company at WrestleMania 30. But what can’t be denied is he hasn’t missed a beat on the mic, showcasing the promo ability and storytelling of a man in his prime.

Cody Rhodes's feud with the Rock through the verbal jousting, slaps and beatdowns almost feels bigger than the Cody vs Reigns feud, which the WWE deserve plaudits for the depth of their storytelling in 2024.

The winner in this match chooses the stipulation for Cody vs Reigns on Night Two, if Rhodes and Rollins win the Bloodline are banned from ringside, while if Rock and Reigns win the match will be held under “Bloodline Rules”.

Backing the Bloodline, seems the safe bet the Rock will want to return victoriously and him picking up the win could sow the seeds for a one-on-one match The Rock vs Rhodes or The Rock vs Reigns in the future.

Winner: The Bloodline

Rhea Ripley @ 1/4 v Becky Lynch @ 11/4

Rhea Ripley (27) is on an insane upward trajectory as a WWE superstar these last 18 months or so and the WWE Women’s World Champion shows no signs of letting up. Her aura, strength and character development suggests to me that she could be the biggest star in the company (if she isn’t already) sooner rather than later.

She’ll come up against Limerick Native “The Irish Lass Kicker” Becky Lynch (37) who’s already established a Hall of Fame legacy with the company headlined by becoming the first woman to win a WrestleMania Main Event. With a child now and her contract set to expire, questions are being asked could she be on the way out in an interview she recently said "If I quit tomorrow, I am still the greatest woman to have ever done it.”

Whether this is the end of her WWE career I’m not convinced, but I think she still gives Ripley the rub here.

Winner: Rhea Ripley

Jey Uso @ 4/9 v Jimmy Uso @ 13/8

This is another remarkable spectacle, even if the build has arguably been overshadowed by other matches. The Uso’s are a fine testament to constant graft and work since debuting in the company back in May 2010.

These last 4/5 years, especially since the Bloodline business, they’ve transformed themselves from twins who could be barely distinguished from and were somewhat interchangeable to bonafide “Superstars” of their own right with strong character development.

Twins fighting against one another is a story in itself and while both could win this match, Jey’s stock is that little bit higher than Jimmy’s now.

Winner: Jey Uso

Jade, Bianca, Naomi @ 1/8 v Damage CTRL @ 9/2

This match is all about building more stars in the company with the arrival of Jade Cargill along with the repairing of broken bridges recently returned to the company. Naomi left the company in March 2023 in acrimonious circumstances before returning last January to a POP at the Royal Rumble.

While Damage CTRL has been a brilliant stable in the Women’s Division for the best part of 2 years, the stable could be on its last legs or at a minimum a reinvention following the departure of Bayley and the recent addition of Asuka.

People have pondered that Bianca could turn heel costing her team the match, but I can’t see Jade and Naomi not being given the victory here.

Winner: Jade, Bianca + Naomi

Six Pack Tag Title Ladder Match (Odds N/a)

WrestleMania always has matches full of stars on the card and chaos and this Ladder match for the tag titles certainly fits the bill with The Judgement Day defending their belts against #DIY, The Awesome Truth, The New Day, A-Town Down Under and the New Catch Republic.

The Awesome Truth are favourites to win this match with R-Truth having been bullied by the Judgement Day for months on end! Comedy is always expected when the R-Truth takes the stage and the theory being floated about is that he will comedically grab only one set of titles in the match as they look to split the tag titles.

Time will tell, but the talent in this match means it could end up being a show-stopper!

Winner: The Awesome Truth

Gunther @ 4/9 v Sami Zayn @ 13/8

Gunther is the longest and most dominant Intercontinental Champion since becoming Champion on the 10 th of June 2022 which is now 663 days (at the time of writing). His rise up the ladder has been remarkable and his standing in the company now suggests that even bigger things are ahead for him.

The build-up focused on his challenger and plenty of fans would’ve rathered Chad Gable as his challenger rather than Sami Zayn. However, the latter is still one of the finest in the company and has had a rollercoaster year since his victory over the Bloodline last year.

Gunther’s reign is bound to end soon, but it may not be Zayn who stops him and it could be setup for a call-up on the Raw after WrestleMania.

Winner: Gunther

Rey Mysterio & Dragon Lee @ 5/6 v Dominik Mysterio & Santos Escobar @ 5/6

It’s no hyperbole to suggest that Rey Mysterio (49) who has wrestled for over 30 years since he debuted on the independent seen at 14 back in 1989 is one of the greatest wrestlers to grace the game and that can’t be argued. However, the decision to have Dragon Lee in the match instead of Carlito suggests that the latter might be about to turn heel and cost them the match.

Dominik has had a breakout year since his pinfall defeat at the hands of his father at WrestleMania last year and looks to have a very bright future in the company. He is partnered by another veteran Santos Escobar who has been wrestling for close to 25 years.

Having scored the pinfall last year, I feel Rey may wish to give his son the rub and a Carlito interference should score Dominik the win.

Winner: Dominik Mysterio & Santos Escobar
