Trump Clings To Favouritism

Donald Trump is clinging on by a whisker as favourite for the US Presidential Election according to the latest betting with BoyleSports following the guilty verdict in his New York ‘hush money’ trial.

Guilty As Charged

The Irish bookie rated Trump an 8/11 favourite to earn himself a White House return as the jury was sent out to consider its verdict, but his odds have slipped to 10/11 after he was found guilty on all 34 felony counts, meaning he is the first former or current President in American history to be convicted of a crime.

Sentencing Date

Trump is due to be sentenced on July 11 th but has vowed to appeal the decision and while legal experts aren’t predicting a prison sentence for the former President, all eyes will now be on the opinion polls to determine whether his chances of victory have been damaged.

Biden Shortening

Current polling suggests Trump and Biden are almost neck-and-neck in the race for the White House and the betting trends are backing up the prospect of a marginal result, with Joe Biden closing in at 6/5 from 6/4 after Thursday’s verdict landed in New York.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said:

“The guilty verdict has left the betting on a knife-edge and although Biden has closed the gap in recent hours, Trump is still clinging on to a slender advantage in what looks like the closest contest in years.”
