As we gear up for what promises to be an explosive Euro 2024, we have sat down to preview another Euro 2024 tournament favourite in Spain.

Spain Euro 2024 Odds

Spain have been handed odds of 8/1 to land Euro 2024. Those odds suggest that the country has an 11.1% chance of success in the tournament.

The three market leaders for Euro 2024 ahead of Spain are England at odds of 3/1 which implies a 25% chance of success in the summer, France who can be gotten at 7/2 at a 22.2% chance of success and tournament hosts Germany who are priced at 6/1 or a 14.3% chance of success of winning.

Spain’s Euro 2024 Group Odds

Spain have been drawn into Group B which has been dubbed the “Group of Death” as they look to land their fourth success in the competition following successes in 1964, 2008 and 2012. They’re joined by two-time winners and defending champions Italy (1998 and 2020), two-time Quarter-Finalists Croatia (1996 and 2008) along with Albania who have never been beyond the Group Stage.

Spain are 3/4 favourites to win the group, Italy are expected to be their closest challengers at 5/1 while Croatia despite their obvious qualities are 4/1. Albania are expected to be cannon fodder for the “European Elite” and are priced at 25/1 to land a shock group victory.

How Spain Qualified For Euro 2024

Spain qualified for the tournament in close to perfect fashion following a record of 7 victories and 1 defeat from their 8 group games, with their only loss coming 2-0 against Scotland. However, they still finished 4 points ahead of The Scots in second place.

They scored 25 goals across those qualification games and had a watertight defence with only 5 goals conceded.

Head Coach – Luis de la Fuente

Spain have been managed by de la Fuente since he was appointed on the 8th of December 2022 as head coach of the Spain national football team following the resignation of Luis Enrique when they were knocked out of the 2O22 World Cup Round of 16 on penalties by Morocco.

Since taking the helm for Spain he has guided them to a solid record of 8 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats which means they have a win rate of 66.67% with a Goal Difference of +20.

Players to Watch

Star Player – Rodri

Crucial to the Spanish Euro 2024 “challenge” will be Man City midfielder Rodri (27) who in my opinion is the best single pivot midfielder in the world and likely to continue his fine club form into this summer's tournament.

Rodri not only demonstrates brilliant defensive awareness and covering which allows his more attackingly inclined teammates to flourish. Rodri attempts an incredible 110.35 passes per 90 and completes 91.7% with 11.33 of them being progressive passes all stats in the 99th, 98th and 99th percentile respectively. His 2.93 Progressive Carries which are in the 94th Percentile shows he is no one trick pony either.

Breakout Star – Nico Williams

When somebody speaks about the “quintessential” Spanish footballer, one usually thinks of a midfielder who is comfortable in the Tika-taka style of short passing and movement, working the ball through various channels, and maintaining possession.

However, with Williams (21) who plays his club football with Athletic Club, they have a footballer who offers something quite different to a usual Spanish squad member. Williams is a traditional winger who likes to cut inside with his electric pace and showstopping skill making him very different to the usual Spanish threat while also capable of linking up for the stereotypical Spanish build-up.

When compared with other players, Nico truly is elite with 3.90 Successful Take Ons and 5.66 Progressive Carries in the 97th and 92nd Percentile respectively. Nico is the Spanish player I’m looking forward to watching most at the tournament.
