In this post, we take a look at Rory McIlroy PGA Championship odds as the Northern Irishman looks for a first major in 10 years.

Rory McIlroy has been one of the most consistent scorers on the PGA Tour since debuting in 2010 with 26 PGA Tour wins to his name including 4 major titles. It’s a testament to the man’s talents that some would argue that he has underachieved in his career.

Rory McIlroy PGA Championship Betting Odds

Rory McIlroy is the 7/1 second favourite to win the 2024 PGA Championship. Those odds of 7/1 suggest that McIlroy has a 12.5% chance of winning this year’s PGA Championship.

The other two market leaders are; favourite Scottie Scheffler who is seen as a 4/1 chance and third favourite Books Koepka at 14/1.

Mcllroy has been a regular at the top of major betting markets for well over a decade now. Typically he has been somewhere in the 10/1 range in the odds, and he even won this event in 2012 and 2014.

Could this be his time to win his fifth major? We all know he has the game on the right weekend to blow any field in golf away and there is no reason why it can’t be this time.

Rory McIlroy’s Current Form

McIlroy’s Wins In 2024

The Northern Irish man has 2 victories from 10 events played in 2024. McIlroy’s first victory of the season came at the end of last month where he along with Shane Lowry won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans winning the playoff with a score of -25 under to beat the duo of Chad Ramey and Martin Trainer.

Mcllroy earned his second tournament victory of the season last weekend in the Wells Fargo Championship where his score of -17 under finished five strokes ahead of runner-up Xander Schauffele.

Most Recent Form

Mcllroy has won each of the last 2 tournaments that he has played in. He won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with Shane Lowry at the end of last month winning the playoff with a score of -25 under to beat the duo of Chad Ramey and Martin Trainer.

Mcllroy earned his second tournament victory of the season last weekend in the Wells Fargo Championship where his score of -17 under finished five strokes ahead of runner-up Xander Schauffele.

Recent Major Form

Following a progressive year of the 2023 majors where he went from being CUT at The Masters to finishing T7 at the PGA Championship, runner-up at the US Open and T6 at The Open Championship.

Last time out during the 2024 Masters, many were predicting this to be the time he finally completed the Grand Slam of Golf cementing his future further in the history books. It was not to be though with him finishing T22. A disappointing result albeit stronger than his result in the previous season.

Rory McIlroy’s US PGA Championship Form

Arguably McIlroy’s favourite major since his two wins in the event in 2012 and 2014 means it is the only major championship he has won on more than one occasion. His debut at the event came in 2009 where he came T3.

From his 15 appearances at the event, he has only missed the cut on one occasion which came back in 2016. He has 10 Top-25 finishes, 8 Top-10 finishes, and 4 Top-5 finishes. He came T7 at the event last season.

Notably, Valhalla is the site of McIlroy’s most recent major success when he won the 2014 PGA Championship in dramatic fashion.

Rory McIlroy's Major Wins

Rory McIlroy has won four major championships to date in his illustrious playing career. His first win at the majors came as a fresh-faced 22-year-old who took the golfing world by storm as he dominated the field en route to the 2011 US Open. His performance that week was historic as he set the US Open scoring records for 72-hole, 54-hole and 36 holes.

The 2012 PGA Championship followed at Kiawah Island and later the 2014 Open Championship at Royal Liverpool. At the time it looked like McIlroy was destined for the career grand slam and to even win 10+ majors in his career.

Unfortunately, Mcllroy has not lived up to lofty expectations since, only winning a single major since then which was his 4th and to date final, major at the 2014 PGA Championship at Valhalla.

Could a return to Valhall be the spark McIlroy needs to get back to major-winning ways? We’ll soon find out.
