In this post, we take a look at Scottie Scheffler US PGA Championship odds after he won the first major of the year at Augusta.

Scottie Scheffler US PGA Championship Odds

Scottie Scheffler is the 9/2 favourite for the US PGA Championship per the latest golf odds at BoyleSports. Those odds imply that Scheffler has an 18.2% chance of winning this year’s PGA Championship.

The Texan won his second Masters this April as he cruised to victory after holding a one-shot lead going into the final round. His first Masters victory came in 2022 which he also won comfortably, on that occasion the gap to second place was 3 shots.

Scottie Scheffler’s US PGA Championship Form

Scheffler has yet to win the PGA Championship in his 4 appearances at the event. Despite not having won this major, the American has some strong form.

Here are Scheffler’s finishes at the USPGA:

T4

2021

T8

2022

2023

T2

The world number one has 3 top-10 finishes including 2 top-5s from 4 starts at the PGA Championship. That suggests that the way this major is typically set up suits his game (although I think it would be hard to find a set-up that doesn’t suit Scheffler given his incredible ball striking).

The missed cut in 2022 at Southern Hills sticks out as the only blip on his resume at this tournament and can probably be forgiven as just an uncharacteristic off-week. However, it is noteworthy that his missed cut at that year’s PGA came after his win at the Masters. Could he be in for another Masters hangover at Valhalla this May? It’s something to bear in mind although personally, I wouldn’t put too much stock into it.

Scottie Scheffler’s Major Championship Form

2024 at the Majors

In his first start at the majors this year Scheffler won the Masters for the second time. The world number one went into the week as favourite and looked a class apart from the rest of the field as he posted rounds of 66, 72, 71, and 68 to finish on -11 and win the tournament by 4 strokes.

2023 at the Majors

In 2023, Scottie Scheffler was a constant contender at the majors. Below you can see his finishes at each major last year.

Despite 3 top 10s at major championships in 2023, Scheffler failed to record a win at golf’s most prestigious events.

At the Masters, he never really contended as a 75 on day 2 more or less ended his chances of going back-to-back at Augusta. With that said, a T10 finish was a solid defence of his title.

The US PGA Championship is where he came closest to major glory as he finished T2nd, just 2 strokes back of winner Brooks Koepka after a final round 65 vaulted him up the leaderboard.

At the US Open, he finished 3rd, 3 shots back of winner Wyndham Clark. Scheffler went into the final round 3 shots back but was never able to eat into that lead and put pressure on the two leaders, McIlroy and Clark.

In the final major of 2023, the Open Championship, the world number one was disappointing (by his standards). He never contended and only narrowly made the cut before eventually finishing T23 at Hoylake.

US PGA Championship Betting

Jon Rahm is Scheffler’s biggest threat for the 2024 US PGA Championship according to the latest betting odds. Rahm is the 9/1 second favourite.

Just behind the Spaniard is Rory McIlroy who is a 10/1 chance to win a 3rd PGA Championship this year.

Further out in the betting, we have young Swedish sensation Ludvig Aberg who burst onto the professional scene in 2023 and contended with Scheffler at the most recent major championship. Fellow Scandinavian Viktor Hovland is also rated as a 16/1 shot to win at Valhalla and the duo are joined on those odds by 5-time major champion Brooks Koepka. 18/1 bar.
