There were celebrations in County Meath on Friday evening after a race at Dundalk narrowly went the way of an expectant punter and saw them walk off with just short of €8,000.
The punter picked out six horses for Friday’s racing action and put them into a €0.30 Lucky 63 in a local BoyleSports shop. Even though two of the selections, Celestial Bliss and Pendleton, didn’t deliver wins at Ayr, three other horses set up a potential large payout.
18/1 pick Tritonic (3.25 Newbury), 6/1 Gardiners Hill (4.45 Newton Abbot) and 9/1 My Ukelele (4.55 Ayr) all reached the winners’ enclosure.
It was all worth it in the end however as 14/1 selection Cache Queen won the 8.35 by only half a length to make it four winners from six. That was enough to transform their total stake of €18.90 into a whopping €7,814.10.
