This performance from The Other Kobe Lahdedah means he has been clipped into 8/1 third favourite to land the BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby.
We have a full preview detailing the history of the Irish Greyhound Derby here.
The first semi-final looks to be the more open of the two heats with six dogs having real claims of not just qualifying for the Final but winning this Semi-Final heat.
In Trap (1) you have the consistently early-paced son of Ballymac Best- Corduff Flame who will likely be breaking quickest from the inside and if he can get around the first bend first then he will have major claims.
https://twitter.com/shelbournepark/status/1692989267029405871?s=20
In Trap (2) you have the strongly finishing Threesixfive a daughter of Droopys Sydney – Dunquin Anna who has made a mockery of three giant prices in the last three rounds to qualify for the semi-final
In Trap (3) you have a young progressive dog who won't be two years of age until next month Seven Beach the son of Pestana – Whitings Gift is another who keeps qualifying.
Trap (4) is the son of Laughil Blake – Oi Oi Upenalty, Trinity Junior for Peter Cronin and will be your likely favourite in this race. He will likely be going up quickest with sectionals of 3.53, 3.53, 3.48 and 3.45 so far in the competition.
Trap (5) is a son of Droopys Sydney- Droopys Matilda who is flying very much under the radar in this competition. The June 21 welp, has only the one defeat to his name and ran superbly last week to claim the spoils.
https://twitter.com/shelbournepark/status/1693925949429981263?s=20
Trap (6) is arguably my favourite dog left in the competition, the Patrick Guilfoyle=trained son of Newinn Taylor – Glideaway Magic, may not be the fastest dog left in the competition, but has progressed nicely throughout the competition and will prove very hard to keep out of the frame!
My Pick? Clonroosk Sydney at 6/1 to win the race with Music Glideaway an each-way player at 7/1.
Semi-Final 2:
On paper this is the hotter of the two excellent semi-final heats, with three of the top dogs in the market, battling it out for a place in the final. They can’t all qualify? Can they?..
Trap (1) De Lahdedah (see below)
Trap (2) The Other Kobe The Jennifer O’Donnell trained sensationally early-paced son of Ballymac Best-Mountaylor Queen had a career and competition best 29.15 last weekend, if he repeats that again he will 9.5 times out of 10!
Trap (3) Bockos Crystal the Graham Holland-trained daughter of Droopys Sydney – Vigorous Hilary has already shocked Coolavanny Hoffa in Round 3 of the Derby, with eighteen victories and over 20,000 won in prize money, she is very much going under the radar in this competition.
https://twitter.com/shelbournepark/status/1686431858861494277?s=20
Trap (4) Bens Teddy the Pat Buckley trained son of Droopys Sydney- Beechgrove Bell has a difficult draw but has been very consistent in his clocks throughout the competition clocking times of 29.89, 29.31, 29.37 and 29.39.
https://twitter.com/shelbournepark/status/1687920725762457600?s=20
Trap (5) Raha Mofo the Murt Leahy trained daughter of Droopys Sydney-Clares Queen is nothing short of a superstar, 18 career wins and over 66,000 in prize money won, anything extra will be a bonus for one of the finest bitches we will ever see.
Trap (6) Coolavanny Hoffa (see below)
My Pick? The Other Kobe at 9/2 represents big value if he can get up on the inside of De Lahdedah in the early stages and I think he will. Elsewhere, Raha Mofo at 20/1 is big value to qualify and she is worth an each-way bet.
https://twitter.com/RPGreyhounds/status/1692986264151024018?s=20
In the lead-up to the Derby, De Lahdedah posted a lightning-fast 29.24 the week before Round 1, he followed that up with a Round 1 victory posting a 29.43 accompanied by sectionals of 3.45 and 17.14 to announce himself as a serious contender for the competition.
https://twitter.com/shelbournepark/status/1686045990195703808?s=20
De Lahdedah overcame a tough Trap (4) draw in Round 2 to finish third in a time of 29.72 and an uncharacteristically slow sectional of 3.71 to finish 3 and ½ lengths back of winner Glengar Martha and 1 length back of second-placed Droopys Nice One with De Lahdedah notably running on strongly.
Following Round 2, we stated that the luck of the trap draw would prove key for De Lahdedah’s Derby credentials. That proved true, with him back in his favoured Trap (1) he showed tremendous track craft and pace to stop the clock in a breathtaking 29.15 the fastest time of the Derby so far coming three lengths ahead of second-place Clonroosk Sydney who beat Bens Teddy by a shd.
https://twitter.com/RPGreyhounds/status/1690675563378229248?s=20
After his Quarter-Final victory, he was handed the red jacket again for the semi-final and looks like a serious player in the Derby, the dog who beats him will win the Derby.
Hoofa started his Derby journey in Round 1 and returned from a ten-month race hiatus with a convincing 29.43 run with sectionals of 3.52 and 17.08 This was an exceptional performance, especially considering the dog was returning after a layoff of over ten months. Following the race trainer Michael J O’Donovan was short but sweet with his assessment “A plan going well..."
https://twitter.com/NotoriouslyRICH/status/1685036395713208320?s=20
If people thought that run was a fluke, they were kindly mistaken and the son of Droopys Sydney and Coolavanny Ella stopped the clock with a 29.31 with sectionals of 3.51 and 17.01, Hoffa is the convincing fastest to the third bend a worthy favourite to win the competition outright with his special talent
https://twitter.com/shelbournepark/status/1687916896945836032?s=20
In Round 3 Coolavanny Hoffa was expected to assert his Derby domination again emphasised by him being sent off 1/6 favourite for Heat 4. However, it was Bockos Crystal now fourteen weeks out-of-season returning to her best and doing enough to repel Hoffa at every stage of the race to beat him by 0.75 lengths.
https://twitter.com/RPGreyhounds/status/1690687894711832576?s=20
In his Quarter-Final last week he eased off the bend during the race and now has people really questioning his credentials. However, if he breaks on the bunny there is nobody quicker.

BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby Favourites
De Lahdedah 2/1
The Liam Dowling-trained De Lahdedah is your new Derby favourite at 2/1 having been cut from 5/1 and 12/1 in recent weeks his 29.31 Quarter-Final he has been backed into favouritism.https://twitter.com/RPGreyhounds/status/1692986264151024018?s=20

Coolavanny Hoffa – 7/2
The Michael J O’Donovan-trained Coolavanny Hoffa may be an exceptional sort, but has drifted in the market slightly following disappointing Round 2 second place, and a very questionable performance in third last weekend.Hoofa started his Derby journey in Round 1 and returned from a ten-month race hiatus with a convincing 29.43 run with sectionals of 3.52 and 17.08 This was an exceptional performance, especially considering the dog was returning after a layoff of over ten months.
