The nine-year-old Jonbon is trained by Nicky Henderson and has a hugely impressive career record never being outside of the top two from nineteen races, crossing winning on 16 occasions and coming runner-up the remaining three times.

Jonbon’s most recent outing on track was at Sandown last month where he won in a six-horse field coming a comprehensive eight lengths ahead of runner-up Quixixios for its fourth successive win.

The horse's last defeat was on the 27th of January 2024 when it was beaten by Elixir De Nutz by only a nk.

Verdict

Jonbon is a very special horse and is a very worthy favourite for this race even at odds of 8/13.

Form

The eleven-year-old is trained by WP Mullins and has thirteen victories, one runner-up finish and two third places from sixteen rules races displaying tremendous levels of consistency for famous owner Tony Bloom since November 2019.

The horse has been more lightly raced in recent times with his last race coming last month in Cork where it returned from a massive 593-day break on the track to make light work of the eight-horse field coming ten lengths ahead of closest challenger Dinoblue though he still looked naturally rusty in victory considering the lengthy layoff.

Verdict

An Energumene in its prime would very likely be the favourite for this race, but unlike last time out there’ll be no room for rustiness if it’s to defeat Jonbon.

The eleven-year-old veteran on the track is trained by Alan King and has a career record from thirty-three races of ten victories, nine runner-up finishes and four third places since debuting at Newbury in November 2018.

The horse most recently ran at Kempton last month where the horse was runner-up over the 2-mile trip and field of seven horses coming three and a half lengths back of winner Soul Icon.

Verdict

Edwardstone is a classy, experienced campaigner though mother time is undefeated, and it would take a considerable turn-up for the book for him to figure this time around.

Boothill

Odds

Next up in the betting is Boothill who is the 20/1 outsider of the field giving the horse a very slim 5.9% chance of success.

This ten-year-old campaigner on the track is trained by Harry Fry and has a career record from twenty races of seven wins, four runner-up finishes and two third places.

The horse most recently ran at the Boxing Day meeting at Kempton where it fell while behind but was in touch with the leaders when fell 5 out from the winning line.

Verdict

The horse's odds here of 20/1 are very reflective of its chances and it would be a remarkable training feat by the team if it even placed on Saturday.
