Punters Favour Jonbon in Clarence House Clash
BoyleSports has cut the odds on Jonbon winning the Clarence House Chase into 8/13 from 4/5 after a field of four was declared for Saturday’s feature at Ascot.
The Nicky Henderson-trained nine-year-old, who was last seen scoring in Sandown’s Tingle Creek, is already an eight-time Grade One winner and will likely head to post for the Clarence House as a red-hot favourite ahead of Irish raider, Energumene .
Energumene Drifts In Clarence House Chase Market
A dual Champion Chase winner, Energumene returned from a 493-day lay-off last month to win the Hilly Way Chase at Cork and is bidding to make it third time lucky in Saturday's race, having been beaten in the 2022 & 2023 renewals.
Punters, however, are going cold on his chances of getting the better of Jonbon, and the Willie Mullins-trained gelding is now 2/1 from 15/8, ahead of Edwardstone (12/1) and Boothill (20/1).
Brian O’Keeffe, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said: “It’s another eagerly anticipated clash in the Clarence House as Nicky Henderson and Willie Mullins lock horns again. Energumene could well be the comeback king, but it’s Jonbon and his stellar record away from Cheltenham that punters are finally latching onto.”
