England are now 7/2 with BOYLE Sports in the 2026 T20 World Cup odds after Harry Brook blasted them into the semi-finals with a brilliant century against Pakistan.
Brendon McCullum's side kept Pakistan to 164 for nine in Kandy and Brook then produced a captain’s knock of the highest order, smashing exactly 100 off just 51 deliveries, to help his side prevail by two wickets.
Having already brushed aside Sri Lanka during the Super 8 stage, England have reached the last four of this competition for the fifth straight time.
Defending champions India still head the outright betting but are out to 2/1 after losing heavily to 2024 runners-up South Africa in the other pool, with the Proteas subsequently cut to 5/2.
England roar in Super 8s
England made a stuttering start to the tournament when only just edging out Nepal by four runs before being soundly beaten by the West Indies.
However, victories over Scotland and Italy, albeit surviving scares in both matches, saw them progress and stay in contention to lift this trophy for the third time.
England stepped up a gear when getting the better of co-hosts Sri Lanka by 51 runs in Kandy on Sunday and recovered from losing early wickets to edge out Pakistan with five balls to spare at the same Pallekele Cricket Stadium.
“I’m very happy with the way we played there and it’s nice to get through to the semis,” said Brook. “We’ve got one more game against New Zealand and we’ll focus on that, but the bigger prize is on the other side.
“Pakistan are always good and have some world-class players and it’s just nice to get over the line. There are obviously areas that we still want to improve on, you can never quite get perfection, but we’re always striving for it.”
All to play for in Group 1
With Australia out of the way following a shock early exit, India entered the Super 8s as firm favourites to retain the title following four straight wins during the group stage.
However, South Africa also advanced with a 100 per cent record and crushed their hosts by 76 runs in Ahmedabad.
The Proteas are now 2/5 to top the Group 1 table, with West Indies 2/1 for that market following a 107-run demolition of Zimbabwe and India out to 10/1.
Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan is the clubhouse leader in terms of most runs scored with 283 after hitting 63 versus England, but Brook moved up to fourth on 202.
Windies ace Shimron Hetmyer heads the chasing pack on 219, with Pathum Nissanka of Sri Lanka in third place on 208.
Shadley van Schalkwyk is the man to catch with regards most wickets taken on 13 but can’t improve that tally with the USA already out, which leaves South Africa’s Marco Jansen as favourite to overtake him after claiming 11 scalps so far, while England’s Jofra Archer is just one further back.
