Wimbledon Tips: Who Will Triumph and Why?
Wimbledon Women’s Predictions
[Aryna] Sabalenka has a slight shoulder problem but assuming that heals I will go for her. She has twice been a semi-finalist and loves the grass and has matured into a player who will not miss the opportunity if it presents itself this time.
*Aryna Sabalenka is 3/1 to win the Women’s Singles title at Wimbledon according to the latest Wimbledon odds at BoyleSports.
Wimbledon Men’s Predictions
On the men’s side, I will go with Jannik Sinner. His ability to defend on a grass court by sliding in the same way that Novak Djokovic can is such an advantage. Then you have his serve which has improved, making him an incredibly difficult proposition.
*Jannik Sinner is 7/4 to win the Men’s Singles title at Wimbledon per the latest tennis odds at BoyleSports.
Katie Boulter's Rising Star: What to Expect at Wimbledon
Katie deserves so much praise. At the moment, she is in the limelight because of the power couple thing with her and Alex De Minaur.
But as an individual Katie has overcome illnesses, a stress fracture in her back and to be able to turn it around to the degree that she has in her career is remarkable.
Nobody, not even your Sabalenkas or your Swiateks, will want to play Katie at Wimbledon. That is a tribute to her hard work and her team. She has done everything in her power to be the best player she can be and she deserves everybody’s praise.
I would not be surprised to see Katie at the quarters at Wimbledon if the draw is favourable.
She is going into the tournament with her own expectations and confidence that she can go deep having won two titles recently. San Diego was massive and defending her title at Nottingham took a lot.
Those are the changes that can happen in a player’s career until you get to a sweet spot where you live with that expectation on your shoulders. Katie isn’t quite there yet but she’s not far off.
Jack Draper's Impressive Progress: What Makes Him Stand Out?
Jack is going to be a top-ten player. There’s no doubt in my mind. I was fortunate enough when I was helping Andy out in 2021 to be on the court a few times with Jack and Andy practised with him. There was a willingness to run through a brick wall and a willingness to do every single drill that he was set. I thought ‘This guy has a massive backbone, has an incredible game and is an amazing athlete’. He understands how to defend.
You have got to be able to defend and beat people on your bad days. Jack has those attributes. In the past six months, he has shifted to being a more aggressive player, getting on the front foot getting to the net improving his serve. But he has the one attribute which is vital to get into the top 10. The ability to defend.
*Jack Draper is 20/1 to win Wimbledon per the latest tennis outright odds at BoyleSports.
Is Jack Draper the Next Andy Murray?
It is a big mantle to take on but he has got the potential. I am loathed to put it on his shoulders in words.
But I genuinely believe he has the potential to become a major champion and then a world number one. I wouldn’t say it if I didn’t believe it.
It is easier to win a major than becoming the world number one. You can get hot for two weeks but to be consistently hot for 12 months is a much harder challenge.
He plays well on all surfaces so he has four chances a year.
Why Djokovic Doesn’t Receive the Same Public Affection as Murray, Federer & Nadal
Novak is the best of this generation, including Roger and Rafa. There is no discussion. If people don’t like him because they wanted something else from Novak, that’s on them, not on him.
He had to drive a wedge between two players who in many people’s eyes were the greatest ever, and find a way to beat them which he has done. I have nothing but the ultimate respect for someone who has done what he has.
A Tribute to Boris Becker & His Impact on Tennis
What a story that has been! He is the nicest human being. He has made mistakes recently but my goodness, he is the most generous human being that’s been a great champion I will ever know.
It will be lovely to have him back at Wimbledon next year. He is great for the sport. He is a lighthouse for the sport. People have their opinions but to my mind he is right up there. I couldn’t love him more. I have practised with him a lot, hung out with him, and I only have good things to say about him.
