Will Liverpool Sign Mason Mount In The Summer Transfer Window?

My project 1 25
With the mass amount of signings made by Chelsea this January there is now a question as to could Liverpool sign Mason Mount in the summer.

The London club had one of the most active transfer windows we have ever seen from a Premier League team with eight signings altogether.

Chelsea's most recent signing was their most coveted one. Argentina's World Cup star Enzo Fernandez signed late on deadline day for what was a club record fee of €120m.

With all these new faces at Stamford Bridge it could mean a move is coming for some players going the other way in the summer.

One of the primary candidates for a summer move is England international Mason Mount. We got the chance to speak to legendary Man United and England midfielder Paul Ince who gave his opinion on whether Liverpool sign Mason Mount this coming summer.

Will Mason Mount Leave Chelsea For Liverpool?

B: Should Jurgen Klopp make Mason Mount his prime target for the summer transfer window?

PI: It's a funny one really because two years ago Mason Mount was bang in form, everyone was raving about him and he was a cert to start for England. Since the change of manager, he's lost his way and Chelsea are trying to sign anyone they can at the moment so there's going to be a re-jig at Stamford Bridge.

Sometimes it's good to have a new challenge because sometimes you can go stale if you stay at one club for too long.

""

Mount is at an age where he needs to be playing every week. He's a very talented player.

Will Roberto Firmino Leave Liverpool?

B: It’s reported that Inter Milan want to sign Roberto Firmino. Having made the move yourself, how much would you recommend the move to the current Liverpool forward?

PI:

The reason that Mane, Firmino and Salah were unplayable a couple of years ago was because of Roberto Firmino.

""

He used to pull centre halves out of position to allow Salah and Mane space to run into.

As much as Liverpool have invested in very good players like Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, they don't do what Firmino does.

If I was Liverpool, I'd be looking to keep hold of him. Going abroad was the best thing I've ever done. There's not the same language barrier anymore which is why Jude Bellingham and Jadon Sancho have done well at Borussia Dortmund but when I was playing a lot of players didn't go abroad because the language was an issue.

Inter Milan is a wonderful club with wonderful, wonderful fans so if Firmino doesn't sign a contract at Liverpool then Inter would be a fantastic move for him.

Trent Alexander-Arnold Can Become Liverpool Captain

B: Andy Robertson has recently labelled teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold a ‘leader in every way’ - is he someone you could see becoming the Liverpool captain one day?

PI: I don't see any reason why Trent Alexander-Arnold can't become Liverpool's captain. He's a fantastic defender and from a passing point of view, he's the best in the world in my opinion.

He comes from Liverpool, he knows the club and the city and he's adored by the fans.

Jordan Henderson has been an absolutely brilliant captain and if Trent has any aspirations of being a captain then he can learn a lot from Henderson.

""

Henderson is a very rare breed. Players these days, even at Reading, are very quiet. They spend a lot of time on the phone and forget about the art of actually talking to people.

Learning Curve As A Manager

B: Pep Guardiola has admitted that he’s learnt a lot from watching Jurgen Klopp’s side. Since your return to management, is there a team or manager that you’ve learnt most from?

PI: I've taken little bits from every manager I've played under.

Even now I still speak to Sir Alex Ferguson about situations and how to deal with them.

""

Every time we play on a Saturday I invite the opposing manager for a beer or glass of wine after the game and we pick each other's brains because you can never stop learning as a manager.

We recently asked Gordon Strachan who is the better manager between Sir Alex Ferguson and Pep Guardiola. His answer was fascinating.

Can West Ham Avoid Relegation With David Moyes?

B: Do you think David Moyes is the right man to continue taking West Ham forward?

PI: David Moyes is still the right man for West Ham. It's tough because David didn't get enough time at Man United, he didn't get the finances that everyone else has had but prior to that, look at what he achieved with Everton.

Europe can kill you. Fighting in the Europa League and Premier League takes a lot out of a team. David has enough experience to get out of this situation, he knows he's going to be under pressure but he's an expert with this kind of situation.

There's a long way to go this season and the fans just have to get behind the team. Moyes is a top manager and he won't be worried yet.

I believe, with the ability this West Ham squad has, they will get out of this relegation fight.

""

West Ham Sign Danny Ings

B: What do you make of the signing of Danny Ings?

PI: Danny Ings picks up a lot of injuries and it's a shame because he's a top striker. West Ham have spent so many years playing Michail Antonio up front and people have to remember that he was a winger when he was at Nottingham Forest.

He's been carrying that role for the last three or four years and he's not a natural goalscorer. If you don't have an out-and-out goalscorer, you're going to struggle and that's why last year, the reliance was on Jarrod Bowen.

Danny will score goals. It's a very good bit of business from David Moyes as long as he stays fit.

""

Will Adama Traore Stay At Wolves?

B: Should Wolves keep hold of Adama Traore?

PI: Adama Traore is a funny one because sometimes you watch him and think 'wow. World class.'

The kid came from Barcelona for christ's sake so he can't be that bad.

""

He's a lethal weapon and I, for one, would not be letting him leave Wolves. You have to use him because there's no one like him in the Premier League. I love watching him play.

Wolves Sign Craig Dawson

B: What have you made of the signing of Craig Dawson?

PI: Craig Dawson is an important signing for Wolves. They let Connor Coady go to Everton and he was a big part of the club and they never really replaced him.

Wolves need experience and leadership in that area and I actually thought it was a bit strange for Dawson leaving West Ham but he had to leave to play games.

It's a clever signing in more ways than one. Craig can definitely steady the ship for Wolves.

""

I love Wolves and I hate seeing them struggle but I think they've got enough in the locker to stay up.

Mick McCarthy At Blackpool

B: Do you think Mick McCarthy can keep Blackpool in the Championship?

PI: I've got a lot of time for Mick. He's a wonderful, wonderful man. I've got a lot of affinities with Blackpool and the fans because I was manager there and my son Tom played there so the last thing I want is for Blackpool to struggle.

In the position they're in, Mick is the right man because he won't take any nonsense and he'll get the team hard to beat.

""

It's great to see Mick back in management. I've loved listening to him on the TV and radio but he belongs in management. Blackpool are a great club with wonderful fans and hopefully he does well there.

As long as Blackpool finish below us [Reading] that's okay - just hope they don't go down.
