If you’ve been wondering recently, ‘What are Portgual's odds to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup?’, then this is the article for you!

We have the latest odds on Portugal winning the World Cup along with plenty of other bets that you can make on how the Portuguese will perform in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

THE LATEST ODDS ON Portugal WINNING THE 2022 WORLD CUP

Portugal have been installed as 14/1 in the World Cup winner betting market by our odds makers. That makes them the eight favourite in the betting for the 2022 FIFA World Cup just behind the Netherlands who are 12/1.

Portugal manager Fernando Santos and his team are currently ranked 9th in the FIFA world rankings. Portugal will be looking to make amends in this upcoming tournament for their last FIFA World Cup campaign. In Russia at the 2018 World Cup they were knocked out by Uruguay at the round of 16 stage.

All the talk around the Portuguese camp going into this World Cup is about their star man Ronaldo and his interview with Piers Morgan. Ronaldo seems to be aiming for a move from Man United but does the timing of his interview cause a distraction for Portugal? If this team doesn't perform in this World Cup then expect a lot of blame to be pointed at the team's number seven.

Portugal WORLD CUP ELIMINATION STAGE ODDS

For those of you who don’t fancy this Portugal squad as much as our odds makers there are still plenty of bets that you can make on them. One of the most popular bets among punters is on the stage of elimination for each team.

In relation to Portugal, I feel like the best bet on their stage of elimination odds is a quarter-finals exit at odds of 11/4. They are the favourite to win Group H and should they win that group they will likely face one of Serbia, Switzerland or Cameroon in the round of 16 which they will be fancied to beat. Their most likely quarter-final opponents are Belgium or Germany who both have what it takes to beat this Portuguese team.

If you fancy Ronaldo's team to navigate their way past a tough quarter-final opponent, you might want to avail of the 6/1 odds on Portugal exiting at the semi-finals stage of this World Cup. Their most likely opponents here are England and France. Both of these teams are ahead of them in the World Cup winner betting market.

Among some of the other odds that catch the eye with Portugal here are the 4/1 odds on a surprise group stage exit and the 11/1 runner up odds. You can check out our World Cup Group H preview here where we take a look at how Portugal might do in the group stages.

PORTUGAL'S STAR PLAYERS

Cristiano Ronaldo is of course the star man for Portugal. The controversy surrounding him will be an unwelcome distraction in the Portugal camp in the leadup to and during this World Cup, however. There are also concerns about the lack of form and game time the Man United has had in recent months. Hopefully, for football fans CR7 can put on one last show at the World Cup in what is likely his final appearance at the tournament.

Beyond Ronaldo there is plenty of talent in this Portugal side in every area of the pitch. Some might even argue that Man City's Bernardo Silva is the star of this squad. Silva is an incredible talent who has been lighting up for his club in the Premier League throughout recent seasons. At this World Cup he will likely be cast in an attacking midfield role.

Ronaldo's Man United teammate Bruno Fernandes will also be a part of this Portugal midfield. Bruno is a playmaker and has an ability to regularly unlock defences with this range of passes.
Fernandes will need to put any club disputes with Ronaldo aside if Portugal are to go far in this World Cup.""

In defence Man City's Ruben Dias and Joao Cancelo will be joined by Man United's Diogo Dalot as part of what is one of the best back fours in the tournament on paper.

With all the talent on this team it is a surprise that there are seven teams favoured to win the World Cup ahead of Portugal. If they can play up to their level of talent, then this team could go very far in this FIFA World Cup.

HOW MANY TIMES HAVE PORTUGAL WON THE WORLD CUP?

Portugal have never won the World Cup. In fact, this nation has never appeared in a World Cup final which you might find surprising given how massive this nation is in world football terms. Their best finish at a World Cup was third place in 1966 and fourth in 2006. Ronaldo is the only person remaining from that 2006 squad.

This country did finally break their major tournament duck at the 2016 Euros and they will have taken a lot of confidence from that win. Cristiano Ronaldo and company will be aiming to repeat that tournament success on the world stage this winter in Qatar.

WHAT IS PORTUGAL'S FORM LIKE GOING INTO THE QATAR 2022 FIFA WORLD CUP?

This team have been up and down in terms of their form in the build-up to this FIFA World Cup. Portugal have won three of their last six games with one draw and two losses. In their most recent international they lost to Spain 1-0 at home.

Portugal also struggled through World Cup qualifying and if you follow Ireland then you will remember that Portugal were in the same World Cup qualifying group.

The Portuguese were lucky to beat Ireland the first time around with two late Ronaldo goals and the next time the two teams met it ended in a draw with Stephen Kenny's side. In the end, Portugal were topped by Serbia in the group and had to win two World Cup playoff games to earn qualification.

Fernando Santos' men have not been performing to the levels that we know they are capable of given the talent in this team. It is hard to predict how this team are going to do in Qatar because the squad is definitely good enough to win the World Cup while the form says otherwise. This makes Portugal a fascinating team to keep an eye on in this tournament.
