Form Guide
West Ham United Form Guide
The Hammers come into this game on the back of a disappointing derby defeat to Tottenham 0-3 last Saturday. However, it could’ve been so different. Having gone into half-time 0-0, a 47th-minute Sarr goal and a controversial sending off of Souček in the 54th minute meant it was always going to be difficult to get back into the game.
While West Ham are currently sat in 18th, the underlying metrics of their performances suggest that they should climb the table in the coming weeks, given their Expected Points Position would have them 3 places higher in 15th, which would be only one position below their performance last season. Hence, the signs are there that Potter's new look side can come back from this poor rut.
Graham Potter has been tactically flexible throughout this season, generally alternating between a 3-4-1-2 to open the season and more recently a 4-2-3-1. With Souček, the major absentee through suspension, it’s likely we will see a pairing of Paqueta playing deeper with Ward-Prowse.

Crystal Palace’s Form Guide
The Eagles have had a solid, albeit unspectacular, return to the field following the International Break. They returned to action, hosting Sunderland at Selhurst Park, and despite dominating, were held to a 0-0 draw. Midweek in the EFL Cup, they were then brought back to 1-1 against Millwall before prevailing on penalties.
Crystal Palace’s 6-point tally from their opening 4 fixtures has them sitting nicely in 9th position. Better still for the club, their underlying performance has them on 7.22 points and in an Expected Points Position of 5th. Those early signs suggest last year's FA Cup winners could better their 12th-place finish from last year.
While midweek was used as an opportunity to “refresh the pack”, 5 changes from their draw against Sunderland meant that there was still a significant amount of first-teamers in action from the start, including Munoz, Kamada, and Mateta, who played the full game in both. It’ll be interesting to see if tired legs become a factor at the weekend, even if it is early in the season.

Key Players To Watch
Key Players To Watch
Jarrod Bowen - West Ham United
Club Captain Jarrod Bowen has been nothing short of exceptional since signing for The Hammers in January 2020. This season, he has 1 Goal and 1 assist across his 5 games in all competitions and will be looking to bounce back from a recent quiet showing against Spurs.
Jean Philipe Mateta - Crystal Palace
Frenchman Mateta initially arrived on loan in January of the 19/20 season, and since then has gone from strength to strength, leading the line with distinction and contributing to their FA Cup success. This season, it’s been a slower start with 3 goals in 8 games. He has scored 4 in his 5 games against West Ham though..
Prediction & Best Bet
West Ham United v Crystal Palace Prediction & Best Bet
Prediction: West Ham United 2-1 Crystal Palace
It was a story of two halves last time out for the Hammers, but they will be reeling to go at the weekend and bounce back with some positivity.
Crystal Palace are consistently a challenge, but it remains to be seen whether their midweek game takes a bit out of their legs and energy levels.
I’m expecting a close game, but with midweek off and home advantage, I’m backing West Ham United to do the business and win.
