West Ham United Form Guide

West Ham United Form Guide

Nuno Espírito Santo has only been in charge at West Ham United for a little under a month but there are still significant signs that the future is positive for the club under him. Despite the club still searching for their first win, their 1-1 draw with Everton showed signs of increased defensive solidity, and though they were then defeated by Arsenal 2-0, that was always going to be a difficult game to get points from.

Since his appointment, Nuno Espírito Santo has transitioned the starting formation from what was usually a 3-4-2-1 to a more solid 4-1-4-1, which seemed to shore up their defence. One of the key figures in his opening two games in charge has been Greek International Mavropanos, who has been excellent in both fixtures. Ahead of this game, you can also expect a more potent Bowen, who, against Everton, was their most potent threat going forward, scoring once from three shots.

Ahead of this game, the new man in the dugout for West Ham United has managed in six games against Brentford in his career, winning three, drawing once and losing twice.

Brentford Form Guide

Brentford Form Guide

It was a summer of transition for The Bees, with famed former boss Thomas Frank departing the club for Tottenham following seven years at the club. In addition, the departures of Mbuemo to Man United, Norgaard to Arsenal and Wissa late in the window to Newcastle had plenty predicting that Keith Andrews, who was promoted to Head Coach after his work as a set-piece coach, would be under intense pressure to keep the good times going at the Brentford Community Stadium.

The club has had an interesting start to their season. While the club has received media attention for effective set-pieces, eight of their nine Premier League goals this season has come from open-play, though their 5-3-2 formation has also consistently been called out as too negative by supporters. Interestingly, ahead of their game at London Stadium, they’ve picked up zero points on the road this season following losses to Nottingham Forest, Sunderland and Fulham.

Last night out in their 0-1 defeat to Man City, Andrews favoured a 5-3-2 formation, which restricted the Citizens to a sole goal. However, it wouldn’t be a surprise to me if Keith Andrews reverts to a 4-2-3-1 or persists with his under-fire 5-3-2.

Key Players To Watch

Key Players To Watch

Jarrod Bowen - West Ham United

Ahead of Monday Night Football,  Hammers Captain Jarrod Bowen goes into the game knowing that his 7 goals scored in 13 games against Brentford is more than he’s scored against any other side. An extremely effective and efficient footballer, he can cause the Bees huge issues again on Monday Night.

Kevin Schade - Brentford

In the absence of the departed, namely Mbeumo and Wissa, someone is going to have to step up and score goals for Brentford. German International Kevin Schade has been the man earmarked by many, but this season has only one goal, which came in their 2-2 draw with Chelsea. However, his explosive speed, dynamic movement, and aerial ability mean he does have the tools to score more goals.

Prediction & Best Bet

West Ham United v Brentford Prediction & Best Bet

Prediction: West Ham United 2-1 Brentford

West Ham United could go level on points with Brentford with a victory on Monday Night.

Brentford have struggled on the road this season, but know if they can end that streak, they could put some distance between themselves and the relegation zone.

I’m expecting an extremely tight game, but I’m backing the home side to get the win, given Brentford’s struggles on the road.
