I was very happy with Lostintranslation in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle.
He made a mistake at the second last; he kind of landed up the backside of the winner, Summerville Boy. He couldn’t get his momentum then but he’s a horse to definitely keep an eye out for at some of the spring festivals and later on over two and a half maybe.
Buveur d’Air regaining his title was the highlight of yesterday’s racing. Being the first horse since Hardy Eustace to do that is an incredible feat. It was a super performance and Melon made him work very hard for it.
The ride Ruby Walsh gave Benie Des Dieux in the Mares’ Hurdle was top class also!
The heavy ground was very hard work yesterday. It’ll be a bit drier today and more gluey I think. It’s tough work when it’s as heavy as it was yesterday, especially on the novices.
They went at some pace in the Arkle and it probably played into Footpad’s hands a bit the fact Petit Mouchoir and Brain Power were going very hard.
He made a mistake at the fourth or fifth fence down the hill away from the stands but he learned from it. As good a jumper as these novices are they’ll always make a mistake somewhere and that’s the first mistake he’s made but he showed he has plenty of bottle for chasing. He came back into the race and jumped very well.
