USA vs Wales Match Betting Odds
The United States finished third in North American World Cup qualifying to book their spot in Qatar. They finished behind Canada and Mexico after seven wins, four draws and three losses over the campaign.
Since that qualifying campaign, this team have taken a step backwards. The USA’s recent form hasn’t been great with two wins, three draws and one loss in their last six games. Those two wins came against Morocco and Grenada who are not the strongest nations on the international stage.
In their first playoff game they beat Austria 2-1 and then they went on to beat Ukraine 1-0 in a tense affair in Cardiff. Since that win over Ukraine this Wales team have really struggled. They are winless in their last five games with four losses and one draw. To be fair to the Welsh they have had very tough opponents in these games with the Netherlands, Belgium and Poland making up the opposition.
Still, if you are a Wales fan you would like to have had a bit better run of form as you head into what is this country’s first World Cup since 1958.
This attack also has a very good player that you might not be familiar with in Yunus Musah. The Valencia youngster has been the best player for this team in qualifying and at 19-years of age he is a name to look out for in the January transfer market if he performs well at this World Cup. Musah will occupy a central midfield position in what will likely be a 4-3-3 formation for the United States.
Wales like to set up in a very compact shape in defence and get a lot of bodies behind the ball. You can expect The Dragons to set up in a 3-4-3 formation which is more like a 5-3-2 with three centre backs and two wing backs occupying defensive positions on the flanks.
The Welsh play quite well as a unit so the US will struggle to create chances here. This team will play deep in defence and allow the USA to dominate possession in the hopes they can strike on the counterattack.
The United States have been struggling to score goals of late and this Wales defence will really leave little in the way of space for the US players to operate in. This means that we should see plenty of counterattacking opportunities for Wales here and they can do a lot of damage in transition.
The Dragons talisman is still Gareth Bale. Despite his move to LAFC and his advancing age Bale is still the main man for the Welsh and he has shown that he is a player for the big occasion after his spectacular performances for his country in the 2016 Euros when Wales reached the semi-final. Bale has also scored some spectacular goals in Champions League Finals for Real Madrid.
Bale is joined in the attack by former Man United man Daniel James. The 25-year-old has been struggling for form of late with Leeds in the Premier League but this counter attacking system that Wales play sets up perfectly for him as he can utilise his greatest asset - his blazing speed.
The best bet here is Wales to win 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1 which we have boosted at BoyleSports from 5/2 to 3/1!
You could also have a look at Brennan Johnson to score first at 8/1 odds. The Nottingham Forest striker will likely start up front for Wales in this game and in counter attacking situations he could find himself with some great chances to get on the end of a Wales attacking move.

USA vs Wales Match Betting Odds
USA’s FORM
USA come into this game and World Cup as the joint second favourite to win Group B behind England. Our odds makers have the USA at odds of 11/2 to win Group B and Evens to qualify for the next round. This USA team looks a lot better than what the country has had in previous World Cups.
WALES’ FORM
Wales start off their tournament as the joint second favourites to win Group B along with their opponents in this game the USA who are both 11/2 in the group betting and Evens to qualify. This team earned their spot in this tournament thanks to winning two playoff games after finishing 2nd in their qualifying group to Belgium. In their first playoff game they beat Austria 2-1 and then they went on to beat Ukraine 1-0 in a tense affair in Cardiff. Since that win over Ukraine this Wales team have really struggled. They are winless in their last five games with four losses and one draw. HOW THE TEAMS MATCH UP
USA ATTACK VS WALES DEFENCE
The USA have a couple attacking options that will strike fear into the Wales defence. The big-name player for the United States is of course Christian Pulisic who plays his club football in England with Chelsea. Pulisic has been a solid player in the Chelsea squad since he joined from Borussia Dortmund, and he provides a spark to this attack.

WALES ATTACK VS USA DEFENCE
As mentioned earlier, you can expect the USA to dominate possession in this match. That doesn’t mean that Wales can’t create plenty of chances however. The Welsh have a great ability to use their compact defence as a platform for their attack. The United States have been struggling to score goals of late and this Wales defence will really leave little in the way of space for the US players to operate in. This means that we should see plenty of counterattacking opportunities for Wales here and they can do a lot of damage in transition.

BEST BET
Wales look to have the advantage over the USA heading into this game. While the US might have more talent on their squad, the Welsh play much better as a unit. You are likely to see the USA struggle in attack against a very compact Wales defence in this game. Wales can then use their defence to launch dangerous counter attacks when they force the United States into turning the ball over. The best bet here is Wales to win 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1 which we have boosted at BoyleSports from 5/2 to 3/1!
USA VS WALES GOALSCORER BETTING ODDS
It is hard to look past Gareth Bale in the goalscorer betting market here. Our odds makers have Bale at 4/1 to score the first goal and the way this match sets up that looks like great value especially when you consider that Bale will be taking all the free kicks and penalties for Wales. You could also have a look at Brennan Johnson to score first at 8/1 odds. The Nottingham Forest striker will likely start up front for Wales in this game and in counter attacking situations he could find himself with some great chances to get on the end of a Wales attacking move.
