US Open Favourites – Men’s Singles

Novak Djokovic – 8/5

The favourite for the 2024 US Open is World Number 2 Novak Djokovic who has won this event on four occasions with those successes coming in 2011, 2015, 2018 and most recently last year's tournament in 2023 which makes him the reigning and defending champion. His odds of 8/5 give him a 38.5% chance of retaining the title.

Despite turning pro all the way back in 2003, Djokovic remains a dominant force on the tennis tour in 2024 with a current season record of 29-7 (80.6%) and 1 Calendar Title coming at the recent Summer Olympics in Paris.

Novak is widely considered not only one of the greatest tennis players of his generation but by extension one of the greatest tennis players of all time. He stands alone at the top of the Grand Slam Tennis table with 24 titles to his name 2 more than Rafael Nadal and 4 more than Roger Federer.

Victory at this event would extend his phenomenal Grand Slam record and following his Olympic success along with his winning form in this competition previously he can’t be discounted.

Carlos Alcaraz – 13/8

The second favourite for the 2024 US Open is Spanish sensation and World Number 3 Carlos Alcaraz who reached the Semi-Final of this competition last season before losing to Daniil Medvedev 6–7(3–7), 1–6, 6–3, 3–6. His odds of 13/8 suggest a 38.1% chance he is victorious this time around.

Despite being only 21, he has already been playing on the pro tour since 2015 and has become a multiple Grand Slam winner with his US Open success in 2022, Wimbledon win in 2023 and most recently a title on clay at Roland Garros this season.

The Spaniard boasts a career record of 193–51 (79.4%) and is expected to be the heir to Djokovic’s tennis throne when he eventually ends his career.

There has been debate in tennis circles for years about how the sport would fare when the likes of Federer (now retired, and Nadal (impending retirement) leave the pro tour. However, the sport has found its newest superstar, Alcaraz (20) since turning pro in February 2020 at (16) he has already won 15 Career Titles including Wimbledon and the French Open this season.

Victory at the 2024 US Open would bring his Grand Slam haul to 3 titles and would mean he would significantly improve on his best-ever performance at the event which was a third-round defeat in 2022.

Jannik Sinner – 11/4

Next in the betting is another one of the rising tennis stars Jannick Sinner (23) with odds of 21/10 suggesting a 32.3% chance he is successful in the competition. His best performance in the event was in 2022 when he reached the Semi-Final and last year he was eliminated at the fourth round stage.

2024 has been a brilliant year for Sinner which has seen him recently ascend to the top of the tennis rankings. That climb in the rankings has been a result of a season record of 48-5 which has brought him to 5 Calendar Titles the Australian Open, Rotterdam Open, Miami Open, Halle Open and most recently the Cincinnati Open.

Jannick is another at the start of his career already with a record of 238–79 (75.1%) and 15 career titles. Despite being World Number 1 and in red-hot form he is still only third in the betting which could represent major value in the market.

Alexander Zverev – 8/1

The fourth favourite is German tennis star Alexander Zverev (27) with odds of 8/1 suggesting an 11.1% chance that he is successful in the event. His best finish at the US Open was a runner-up result in 2020 and last year he reached the Quarter-Finals.

The World Number (4) is another dangerous player on tour and in 2024 his year has been highlighted by reaching the French Open final, achieving his sixth Masters title and earning his 400th career win. His most recent result was a Semi-Final run at the Cincinnati Masters where he eventually lost to Sinner 7-6, 5-7 and 7-6.

Although arguably a bit below the top three in the market he still has an impressive Career Record of 446-193 (69.9%) and 22 Career Titles so can’t be dismissed by any means.

Daniil Medvedev – 14/1

Rounding out the top of the betting market is World Number (5) Daniil Medvedev (28) with odds of 14/1 suggesting a 6.7% chance of success. He previously won this event in 2021 and last year was runner-up.

Daniil is coming into the event with a decent season record of 35-13 and 0 Calendar Titles which is a little below his usual standard and has seen him fall two places in the rankings. However, he still has a strong Career Record of 368–149 (71.5%) and 20 Career Titles.

Daniil (28) might not be having the best of seasons but his record at this tournament speaks for itself and he could shock a few of the “bigger names” if on song.
