We have a Ukraine v Belgium prediction for you plus betting tips, odds, team news and matchups ahead of the final round of Group E fixtures.
Ukraine recovered from their defeat against Romania to secure a comeback 1-2 victory against Slovakia. That win means a positive result here will put them through to the knockout stages.
Belgium’s ageing “golden generation” were still expected to make light work of their group but after their opening game defeat against Slovakia 0-1, it means that their latest 2-0 win over Romania puts them in qualifying contention, but a positive result is needed here too again.

Ukraine v Belgium Preview
Ukraine’s Form
Ukraine came third in their original qualifying group behind runaway winners England but did finish on the same points tally (14) as 2nd placed Italy. They secured qualification through playoff path B defeating Bosnia and Herzegovina 1-2 and Iceland 2-1.
After overcoming the challenge of Bosnia and Iceland at the beginning of the year in the Euro playoffs their performances were a mixed bag in their pre-tournament friendlies. They initially drew 0-0 against Germany in Germany and then lost 3-1 against Poland. However, in their last game before the tournament, they had a comfortable 0-4 win over Moldova. They lost their opening game of Euro 2024 3-0 against Romania but their comeback 1-2 win over Slovakia has them in a chance for knockout stage qualification.
Serhiy Rebrov has been in charge of Ukraine since the 7th of June 2023 and so far has managed 8 wins, 4 draws, and 3 defeats for a win rate of 53.33%. Throughout 2023/2024 Ukraine set themselves up in a flat back four in either a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 formation but have favoured the latter throughout this tournament. So far in Euro 2024, they have averaged 13 shots per game, 56.7% of possession 87.5% pass completion and 11 aerials won per game.

Belgium’s Form
Belgium secured qualification for Euro 2024 following a 20-point total where they went unbeaten in qualifying with 6 wins and 2 draws from their games against Austria, Sweden, Azerbaijan and Estonia. That record meant they finished 1 point ahead of runner-up Austria after scoring 22 goals and only conceding 4 goals.
Following qualifying, they were a mixed bag of form initially drawing their opening games of 2024 0-0 against the Republic of Ireland and 2-2 against England. That was followed by two victories before Euro 2024 2-0 against Montenegro and 3-0 against Luxembourg. In their opening fixture of the tournament, they lost 0-1 to Slovakia despite arguably being the better side but have put themselves back in the qualifying picture after their 2-0 win over Romania.
Domenico Tedesco was appointed manager of the Belgium national team on 8 February 2023, on a contract due to run until the end of UEFA Euro 2024. Despite being relatively young for a manager (38), he had already amassed 6 years of coaching experience with the likes of Spartak Moscow and RB Leipzig. From his first 16 games in charge, he has guided them to 11 wins 4 draws and a loss for a win-rate of 68.75% more often than not favouring a 4-2-31 or 4-3-3 formation.

Ukraine v Belgium Head-To-Head Results & Stats
This is the first time Belgium and Ukraine have met in international football.
Key Players To Watch
Oleksandr Zinchenko – Ukraine
The most high-profile member in the Ukrainian squad is the former Man City man and now Arsenal player Zinchenko (27). An immensely technical player, capable of several roles he can often be found at LB or in midfield with club and country. However, in their latest win over Slovakia, he put in a man-of-the-match performance from LB where he contributed 1 assist, had 1 shot, made 44/54 of his passes and won 4/4 of his tackles.

It'll be interesting to see where he lines up against Belgium, but another big result will be needed if they’re to get a result.
Jeremy Doku – Belgium
The Man City winger Doku (21) is a throwback to the wingers of years gone by, even in a Guardiola system which is militantly robotic his showstopping skills and elite dribbling ability is a joy to watch in this day and age where football has become increasingly “robotic”.
Doku averages 11.96 Progressive Carries, 5.60 Successful Take-Ons and 12.72 Touches in the Attacking Penalty Per 90 which are all stats in the 99th percentile for all wingers. He put in a decent showing against Romania but I’m still waiting for him to explode into life against Ukraine.
Ukraine v Belgium Prediction & Best Bet
Prediction: Ukraine 0-2 Belgium
Ukraine are always tough opposition for whoever they come up against but find themselves in a difficult position at the bottom of the group, it looks less likely that they will replicate their Quarter-Final appearance from Euro 2020.
Belgium may be at the end of their “golden generation” but there remains plenty of quality glittered across the squad from back to front and it would be a huge disappointment for not just them but also neutrals if they were to be eliminated at the first hurdle of the competition.
Ukraine are capable of an upset, but I think Belgium should have enough to do the job here.
Best Bet: Belgium Win + Under 2.5 Goals
