Here we are taking a look at the UK Eurovision odds with the song contest now underway from Sweden.
UK Eurovision Odds
Olly Alexander finds himself as one of the outsiders at 80/1 with BoyleSports for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest despite already holding a place in Saturday’s final.
The It’s A Sin star has plenty of experience on stage, recording two UK number ones with band Years and Years and charting across Europe, including in host nation, Sweden. But punters have started to desert the songster despite his impressive CV.
UK Eurovision Odds Drift
Alexander had been the bookies’ 6/1 favourite to lift the iconic trophy when it was announced that he would represent the UK. Punters, however, have since gone cold on his chances and Baby Lasagna is now rated the likeliest winner as he bids to record Croatia’s first-ever Eurovision success.
The UK, although already qualified for the Eurovision Final as part of ‘the big 5’ who contribute the most financially to the song contest, performed in Semi-Final 1 and saw their odds drift further out from 66/1 to now 80/1.
Eurovision Betting
Strong support in recent days for the eccentric entertainer has seen his odds collapse into favouritism at 11/8, with Switzerland’s Nemo now a 7/2 chance after being dethroned at the head of the betting.
Ireland’s Bambie Thug is the other big mover in the market, having seen their odds slashed from 33/1 into 9/1 to claim Ireland’s first win in the competition since 1996. With Ireland currently sharing the mantle of most successful country in Eurovision history with Sweden at seven wins, the host nation is the 150/1 outsider to make it eight.
Brian O’Keeffe, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said:
“Despite being an early Eurovision front-runner, Olly Alexander now finds himself as one of the rank outsiders to claim a first win for the UK in 27 years with Croatia well-fancied to take the stage by storm.”
