Paddy Pimblett will bid to join an elite list of British UFC champions when taking on Justin Gaethje for the interim lightweight title in Las Vegas this weekend.
Michael Bisping, Leon Edwards and Tom Aspinall have enjoyed octagon glory for the UK, and proud Liverpudlian Pimblett has a great chance of following in their footsteps.
He fights an opponent who has to be respected but really should be there for the taking at the age of 37, and 4/9 for ‘Paddy the Baddy’ to prevail is our first Pimblett vs Gaethje prediction.

How to Watch Paddy Pimblett vs Justin Gaethje
UFC 324 marks the beginning of a new deal with Paramount+ for MMA’s top platform, but can also be watched via TNT Sports Box Office in the UK.
Paddy Pimblett
Pimblett Predictably Full Of Confidence
With current lightweight champion Ilia Topuria sidelined by personal issues, Pimblett is in pole position to take over as the top dog in this division. The 31-year-old has rattled off seven straight wins since joining the UFC ranks and has established himself as one of the most high-profile personalities in the sport.
Sceptics have questioned the quality of his opponents, but last April’s third-round TKO of former title contender Michael Chandler in Miami silenced many of those critics. Pimblett is expected to have too much energy and enthusiasm for Gaethje and told Sky Sports: “I just think I’m better than him.“I know I’ve got better grappling, I know I’ve got better jiu jitsu, and I think I’ve got better wrestling, even though everyone says I can’t wrestle.
“I think my striking is just as good as his; he’s a boxer with leg kicks, I’m an MMA striker, and I’ll show the difference on Saturday night. “People think I can’t stand with him and that he’s going to knock me out, but he gets hit a lot more than I do.” Despite vowing to stand toe-to-toe with his battle-hardened foe, Pimblett’s superior grappling skills may prove the key here and 11/8 for him to win by submission appeals from the UFC 324 odds.
Justin Gaethje
Gaethje Always Game But Does Have Limitations
Gaethje has fought at the highest UFC level for almost a decade and held the interim lightweight title back in 2020 after stopping Donald Cerrone and then Tony Ferguson. There was little disgrace in subsequently tapping out against the great Khabib Nurmagomedov , and he bounced back by outpointing Chandler in the Fight of the Year for 2021.
‘The Highlight ’ had Charles Oliveira down twice but was then forced into submission by a rear-naked choke and was also stopped late on by Max Holloway in April 2024 in another epic contest. Gaethje’s latest victory over Rafael Fiziev 10 months ago showed us little we didn’t already know, and the overriding feeling is he will be game but outgunned by a younger foe here.
BOYLE Sports are offering a price boost of 13/10 for Pimblett to win in rounds one to three , and that is added to our UFC 324 betting tips.
For those wanting a bigger price, 19/2 for ‘The Baddy’ to prevail by submission in the third round completes our Paddy Pimblett vs Justin Gaethje predictions.
