Tottenham v West Ham Preview
Tottenham’s Form
Ange Postecoglou did a decent job in his first season at Tottenham taking them from 8th to 5th but in a sense due to them being eliminated from both cup competitions early, it was still a typically Tottenham-type season. However, this season he has come out confidently about his record of winning a trophy at all his previous clubs in the second season. However, it remains to be seen if the additions of Solanke, Gray and Odobert will suffice in bringing their squad to that required level.
While Tottenham are currently 9th in the Premier League following 10 points from their opening 7 league matches, their statistical performance suggests that their performances have deserved better. On the Expected Points Table, they’re 3rd with a total of 13.25 points, a total only bettered by Liverpool (16.32) and, interestingly, Fulham (13.95).
Though they have only two wins in their last five league games, they have been rather unlucky and have shown more consistency across their form in all competitions.

West Ham’s Form
West Ham had a solid 23/24 campaign under David Moyes reaching the Quarter-Final of both the EFL Cup and the Europa League. However, 9th in the league was considered not good enough and he was replaced in the summer by Julen Lopetegui. The transfer window saw them retain most of their core squad through some strong additions in the likes of Kilman, Wan Bissaka, and Todibo (on loan). Thus it’ll be interesting to see how much scope Lopetegui has this season in terms of expectations.
Despite a less than impressive 4 points from their first 8 games putting them 12th, it’s pretty much where they deserve to be at best with their Expected Points total of 8.43 would have them 13th. However, the signs looked brighter before the International Break with their 4-1 win over Ipswich more than deserved coming from an XG score of 4.39 to 1.18.
West Ham have a solid squad but expectation levels are a little high for them from supporters.

Key Players To Watch
Brennan Johnson – Tottenham
The Welsh International (23) performances have been one of few bright spots for Tottenham this season with 6 goals from his opening 10 games in all competitions including a consolation goal in their 3-2 loss to Brighton meaning he has now scored in three successive Premier League games. His pace, dribbling ability and an eye for a goal will be Tottenham’s biggest threat Saturday.
Aaron Wan Bissaka – West Ham
West Ham’s summer signing from Man United otherwise known as “Spiderman” is one of the most underrated RBs in World Football and has already impressed from the small sample size in the opening weeks of the season. He’s one of the best defensive RBs in the world with his 2.11 Interceptions and 2.92 Clearances in the 98th and 81st percentile. His pass completion of 83.6% and 0.98 successful take-ons are in the 80th and 75th percentile making him more complete than he gets credit for.
Tottenham v West Ham Prediction & Best Bet
Prediction: Tottenham 2-0 West Ham
Tottenham under Ange have progressed well in his opening 12 months or so in charge, but he talks a good game with regards to trophies and it’s an entirely different prospect winning them at Tottenham of all clubs.
West Ham have won a trophy more recently than their more successful rivals but ultimately style of play saw Moyes exit during the summer despite their Conference League success a few seasons ago.
Tottenham are performing far better than Tottenham now and should win comfortably.
