Tottenham v Man City Preview

Tottenham’s Form

Tottenham had a progressive first season under Ange Postecoglou finishing 5th in the league though they were eliminated early in the cup competitions. Though Ange has spoken up his second-season record for winning their sole chance remaining in the closing months will be in the Europa League following their 4th finish in the league phase which sees them automatically qualify for the Round of 16.

Ange’s Spurs side have been even less consistent in the Premier League this season which has led to considerable pressure from supporters and some sections of the media about his long-term future at the club. Their 33 points won has them 13th following three successive league victories.

A return to fitness for some of their squad members has seen them with an upturn in form so could be playing City at the right time.

Man City’s Form

For a side which has been so dominant for the best part of a decade but particularly since Guardiola’s appointment in 2016 by comparison this has been a difficult season for the club which has seen them struggle both domestically and being knocked out of Europe last week against Real Madrid. They spent big in January though with over £180 million spent most of which were on first-team signings Khusanov,  Reis, Marmoush, Bah and Nico.

Following their 0-2 defeat at the hands of Liverpool on Sunday, any hopes they would’ve had of mounting a late title charge has seemingly evaporated from possibility with them now 20 points behind Liverpool with just 12 games remaining in the league season. In the coming weeks, I can see the FA Cup being prioritised over the league due to it being their final chance at a trophy in the 24/25 season.

Though City lost at the weekend they will still be looking to finish this season as high as possible in the coming months.

Key Players To Watch

Heung Min Son - Tottenham

Tottenham’s Tallismatic Captain and South Korean legend Son (32) is fastly approaching a decade at the club next year and his status of importance for the club has only grown since the departure of Harry Kane for Bayern.

Son this season despite his advancing years has still contributed 10 goals and 8 assists across 35 games in all competitions. He is priced at 8/1 to score first and 9/4 to score anytime.

Son any time goal - 9/4

Omar Marmoush - Man City

With Haaland injured, the importance of the £59 million January signing from Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga has heightened in importance. But he has taken to life at City like a duck to water and though he did not score against Liverpool at the weekend, the week prior against Newcastle he scored a hat-trick in their 4-0 win from off the wing.

With Haaland an injury doubt, Guardiola may spring a surprise and play Marmoush in his favoured CF position though he played in midfield against Liverpool. He is 13/2 to score first or 13/8 to score at any time.

Marmoush first goal - 13/2

Tottenham v Man City Prediction & Best Bet

Prediction: Tottenham 0-2 Man City

Tottenham have found form with their players returning from injury a climb up the table could be on the cards.

City were all but knocked out of the title race at the weekend but will still be looking to secure Champions League qualification for the 25/26 season.

Spurs have won two successive games against City, but I still favour City this time.

Best Bet: Man City -1 @ 9/4

Man City -1 -9/4
