The last time Spurs got the better of their arch-rivals it proved to be an emphatic and significant victory.
Antonio Conte ’s men delivered in style as Harry Kane continued his love affair with this fixture by scoring twice and partner in crime Son Heung-min added another.
Arsenal , who conceded a needless penalty and later had Rob Holding sent off, lost again at Newcastle next time out, allowing Spurs to sneak above them and secure the final Champions League spot.

Mauricio Pochettino ’s side signed off from White Hart Lane with derby-day bragging rights and a victory that confirmed Tottenham would finish above Arsenal for the first time in 22 years.
After a nervy first half, Spurs were at full throttle after the restart, with Dele Alli breaking the deadlock 10 minutes in and Kane sealing the result with a penalty just short of the hour.

The Gunners were able to weather a grandstand finish to stay on top of the table heading into the final month of the season.
A Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg own goal gave Arsenal the perfect start after 15 minutes before Bukayo Saka finished off a slick counter-attack with a classy finish and Kai Havertz struck from a set-piece.
Tottenham produced a stirring second-half response, as Cristian Romero capitalised on a mistake by David Raya and Son fired home a late penalty, but the visitors hung on.
That was one of six straight wins to end the season but Arsenal were still pipped to the title by Manchester City .

Spurs had not beaten Arsenal since 1999 , a run of 21 matches, but after an all-square first leg in the League Cup semi-finals, Juande Ramos watched his side produce a scintillating display.
Jermaine Jenas grabbed an early opener before Nicklas Bendtner put through his own net.
Second-half strikes from Robbie Keane and Aaron Lennon opened up a four-goal advantage and after Emmanuel Adebayor ’s consolation, Spurs had the last say with Steed Malbranque finishing the rout. They went on to lift the trophy.

A stirring comeback helped ease some of the pressure on Arsene Wenger after a pulsating derby.
Spurs raced into a 2-0 lead after Louis Saha ’s early goal and a penalty by Adebayor but Arsenal responded emphatically with five goals in 27 minutes.
Bacary Sagna reduced the deficit with a header before Robin van Persie ’s super strike made it level at the break.
A Theo Walcott double following Tomas Rosicky ’s quickfire effort after half-time made it a day to savour for the red side of north London, who finished a point above Tottenham that season.

Arsenal ’s ‘Invincibles’ made the short trip to face their rivals knowing a draw would secure another Premier League title.
Early goals from Patrick Vieira and Robert Pires made the result almost a formality but Spurs fought back in the second half, with Jamie Redknapp reducing the deficit before stoppage-time drama.
Gunners keeper Jens Lehmann fouled Keane from a corner and the Irishman fired in the penalty – but it was not enough to stop Arsenal celebrating a second title win at White Hart Lane .

The Gunners stormed into a 3-1 lead after Walcott , Samir Nasri and Van Persie all struck in the first 40 minutes, with Rafael van der Vaart notching for the home side.
However, a 20-yard rocket from Tom Huddlestone just before the break and a 70th-minute penalty from Van der Vaart ensured that Spurs picked up a point.
Luka Modric should have won it for Tottenham from six yards out but he shot straight at Wojciech Szczesny , who also saved from substitute Sandro late on before a Laurent Koscielny header almost flew into his own net in added time as a breathless match drew to a close.

Just five months earlier, Spurs staged one of the greatest comebacks in the history of the North London derby and claimed a first away victory against Arsenal for 17 years in the process.
The Gunners raced to a 2-0 half-time lead through stunning goals from Nasri and Marouane Chamakh .
But Tottenham , captained by William Gallas on his quick return to Emirates Stadium , came roaring back, scoring through Gareth Bale , a Van der Vaart penalty and Younes Kaboul in the 85th minute to seize a memorable triumph.

Fans were treated to a rollercoaster of a contest that contained several twists and turns before Arsenal ultimately snatched the spoils.
Noureddine Naybet put Tottenham ahead and Thierry Henry equalised before the break but it was in the second half that the clash caught fire.
Goals by Lauren , Vieira , Freddie Ljungberg and Pires always kept Wenger ’s side in front but the hosts refused to go away, with Jermain Defoe , Ledley King and Frederic Kanoute on target before a breathless encounter came to an end.

Harry Redknapp 's first week in charge of Spurs ended in dramatic fashion as Lennon grabbed a last-gasp leveller in a thrilling clash at the Emirates Stadium .
Tottenham had opened the scoring via a stunning 40-yard looping lob by David Bentley but Mikael Silvestre levelled prior to half-time after an error by Heurelho Gomes before Gallas and Adebayor made it 3-1 to the hosts after the break.
Darren Bent pulled one back only to see Arsenal 's two-goal lead restored 30 seconds later by Van Persie but Jenas ' 89th-minute goal set up an exciting finish before Lennon 's equaliser sent the away section of supporters wild.
