Tiger Has Cheltenham Punters Rolling In It After Day Two

Punters struck back on day two of the Cheltenham Festival, owing much to Tiger Roll’s impressive victory in the Cross Country Chase.

Last year’s Grand National winner scored Gordon Elliott’s first win of this year’s Festival in remarkable style as he rubber-stamped legendary status by cantering clear of the field and landing a fourth victory around the Prestbury Park track.

Earlier, one of the hottest favourites of the week Altior made it 18 successive wins over obstacles in the Champion Chase at an SP of 4/11. The big three were out of the frame in Tuesday’s Champion Hurdle, but the leading trio in the market filled up the places in Wednesday’s RSA Chase with 4/1 shot Topofthegame landing the spoils for in-form Paul Nicholls.

BoyleSports also reported hefty losses after Joseph O’Brien’s Band Of Outlaws landed the Fred Winter at 7/2f having been backed solidly all day from 11/2 in the morning, while the well-backed Envoi Allen (2/1) made it four consecutive winning favourites to end the day in the Bumper.

That resulted in free bet refunds on the 2nd and 3rd placed horses in the last four races of the day after BoyleSports continue to give punters their money back as a free bet if their selection finishes 2nd or 3rd to an SP favourite in every race on every day of the Festival.

It was a bit of a different story for us on Wednesday and favourite backers got a bit more joy with jollies winning the last four races.

As we are refunding free bets on horses finishing 2nd and 3rd behind SP favourites all week, it quickly turned into a costly day for us.""

Tiger Roll was a huge loser for us and the style in which he won really justified his Irish banker status with many of our customers. Band Of Outlaws’ victory in the Fred Winter compounded our misery today because that was also a significant loser in our book and it’s safe to say that lots of punters are back on an even keel after what was a decent opening day for us.
