Oppenheimer is the overwhelming favourite to win the Oscar for Best Picture at odds of 1/50. Those odds imply that Oppenheimer has a 98% chance of picking up the most coveted prize in the industry.
So can any other movie pull off a massive upset and pip the Christopher Nolan blockbuster for the award? It’s highly unlikely and I wouldn’t be betting on it myself. However, if you just want to have a bet on the category and don’t fancy laying odds of 1/50 then I would suggest Poor Things as the best longshot bet here.
Prediction
Oppenheimer wins Best Picture @ 1/50.
Best Actor Odds
Actor | Odds | Chance of Winning |
---|---|---|
Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer) | 1/25 | 96.2% |
Paul Giamatti (The Holdovers) | 10/1 | 9.1% |
Bradley Cooper (Maestro) | 25/1 | 3.8% |
Colman Domingo (Rustin) | 100/1 | 1% |
Jeffrey Wright (American Fiction) | 125/1 | 0.8% |

Cillian Murphy is the heavy favourite to win the Best Actor Oscar at odds of 1/25. Those odds imply that the star of Oppenheimer has a 96.2% chance of winning this award.
This is another category where, despite being prestigious, does not have a lot of betting interest due to the presence of a heavy favourite.
Paul Giamatti is the actor with the best chance of winning the award not named Cillian Murphy. Giamatti is a 10/1 chance to win this Academy Award having earned rave reviews for his performance in The Holdovers .
Unlike in the Best Picture category I do think that Giamatti has some chance of claiming this award. He is in fact the pick of many critics and this could be seen with his victory in this category at the Critics’ Choice Awards.
I think it will be Cillian Murphy that picks up the award and as an Irish person I am hoping that he does but if you want to have a flutter then I think you could do worse than Paul Giamatti at 10/1 here. The other nominees have next to no chance.
Prediction
Cillian Murphy wins Best Actor @ 1/25.
Best Actress Odds
Actress | Odds | Chance of Winning |
---|---|---|
Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon) | 1/2 | 66.7% |
Emma Stone (Poor Things) | 6/4 | 40% |
Sandra Huller (Anatomy of a Fall) | 20/1 | 4.8% |
Annette Bening (Nyad) | 100/1 | 1% |
Carey Mulligan (Maestro) | 100/1 | 1% |
Preview
Lily Gladstone is the favourite to win the Best Actress Oscar at odds of 1/2. Those odds imply that Gladstone has a 66.7% chance of winning the Academy Award in this category.
Emma Stone is a live contender here however at odds of 6/4. Stone has been hailed for her performance in Poor Things with many claiming that she carried the movie. She won the BAFTA in this category and I think she’s good value to take home the Best Actress Oscar on Sunday night too. Gladstone would be a worthy winner but Stone is the pick here for me.
Prediction
Emma Stone wins Best Actress @ 6/4.
Best Director Odds
Director | Odds | Chance of Winning |
---|---|---|
Christopher Nolan - Oppenheimer | 1/100 | 99% |
Yorgos Lanthimos - Poor Things | 14/1 | 6.7% |
Martin Scorsese - Killers of the Flower Moon | 25/1 | 3.8% |
Justine Triet - Anatomy of a Fall | 33/1 | 2.9% |
Jonathan Glazer - The Zone of Interest | 40/1 | 2.4% |
Preview
Christopher Nolan is the runaway favourite for the Best Director Oscar at odds of 1/100. Those odds make Nolan a virtual certainty and imply that he has a 99% chance of picking up this coveted award for the first time at the 96th Academy Awards.
I wouldn’t waste too much time thinking over this one. Nolan, who directed the Best Picture favourite Oppenheimer , will win here and the odds make it hard to bet on. If Nolan somehow doesn’t win then it would be one of the greatest upsets in the history of the Oscars.
Prediction
Christopher Nolan wins Best Director @ 1/100.
Best Supporting Actor Odds
Nominee | Odds | Chance of Winning |
---|---|---|
Robert Downey Jr. (Oppenheimer) | 1/50 | 98% |
Ryan Gosling (Barbie) | 12/1 | 7.7% |
Robert De Niro (Killers of the Flower Moon) | 20/1 | 4.8% |
Mark Ruffalo (Poor Things) | 33/1 | 2.9% |
Sterling K. Brown (American Fiction) | 66/1 | 1.5% |
Preview
Robert Downey Jr. is a massive favourite to win the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award at odds of 1/50. Those odds suggest that Downey Jr. has a 98% chance of winning the Oscar for this category.
Ryan Gosling is his closest competition at odds of 12/1. Gosling gave a great performance of Ken in Barbie but nobody could match Downey Jr.’s outstanding portrayal of Lewis Strauss and for that he’ll be rewarded with the Oscar that he deserves. I wouldn’t bet on this category, even the long shots I see no value in.
Prediction
Robert Downey Jr. wins Best Supporting Actor @ 1/50
