The Masters Tips & Betting Preview

The Course: Augusta National Will Look Different To Before

Augusta National Golf Club, a par 72, 7,555-yard course, will play host to The Masters Tournament as it always does. What makes The Masters unique is that it is the only major championship in the golfing calendar that is played at the same course every year.

While golf lovers will be more familiar with Augusta than any other major championship venue, it won’t be exactly the same as the last time we saw it. Despite the fact that there have been no yardage or other planned changes for 2025, the golf course went through some recovery efforts after Hurricane Helene last year.

Rory McIlroy, at the Texas Children’s Houston Open, said there were four greens that had been redone (he did not specify which ones) and said the “loss of a few trees” was definitely “noticeable.” At the 2025 Latin America Amateur Championship, Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley confirmed the course lost some trees but will otherwise be its usual stern test for the world’s best players.

“I think we had minor damage to the course, the playing surfaces themselves, but we were able to get that back in shape, but I don't think you're going to see any difference in the condition for the Masters this year,” Ridley said.

The Masters Tips

Collin Morikawa to Win the Masters – 12/1

Collin Morikawa has all the attributes of a Masters champion, and at 12/1, he’s a strong contender for this year’s title. Here’s why you should consider backing the 28-year-old Californian to take home the green jacket:

Unmatched Consistency in Major Tournaments

Morikawa's track record in major tournaments speaks for itself. With two major victories — the PGA Championship (2020) and The Open Championship (2021) — he has shown that he can handle the pressure and elite competition in the game. His ability to rise to the occasion in big events makes him a genuine threat at Augusta National.

Proven Augusta National Pedigree

Morikawa has made all five of his appearances at The Masters count, finishing in the Top 25 every time . More impressively, he has finished inside the Top 10 in three of those five appearances , including a strong T3 finish in 2024 . His consistency on this course is a testament to his ability to adapt to Augusta's unique challenges. In fact, he's yet to miss a cut at the Masters — a rare feat for any player.

Superb Iron Game

What sets Morikawa apart from many of his peers is his world-class iron play. Known as one of the best ball strikers on tour, his ability to hit greens in regulation is second to none. At Augusta, where accuracy with approach shots is critical, this gives him a significant advantage. His precision on approach shots has been key to his success in majors, and it will be pivotal once again at the Masters.

At 12/1, Collin Morikawa presents fantastic value in the outright betting. With a proven record at Augusta, a mental game that holds up under pressure, and an iron game that could shine on the tricky Augusta greens, Morikawa is poised to add a green jacket to his already impressive collection of trophies. It would be no surprise to see Morikawa in the Butler Cabin after posting the lowest score in this year’s Masters Tournament.
