England legend Teddy Sheringham has backed the Three Lions to go all the way in Euro 2024.

Sheringham, who made over 50 appearances for England and scored 11 goals at international level, was speaking exclusively to us here at BoyleSports in the leadup to this summer’s Euros. Along with his predictions for the tournament he revealed to us which England Euro ‘96 player he would add to this current England squad, what the future holds for Gareth Southgate plus shares his views on some of the most high-profile recent happenings in English football.

This 1996 England Euros Star Would Transform Current Team

If I could choose any player from 1996 to be in the current England squad then I would go for Tony Adams, without a doubt a proper leader on the pitch.

He knew his game inside out, knew other people's games inside out and made people tick on the big stage.

He didn't care how he played, he made sure that the rest of his team were phenomenal on the day. I think you need players at that top level to be unselfish in their manner.

And I think he would ease into the England team now to be that main man to let other people flourish.

Gazza would also be a top top name for me, but there isn’t a lot between the ‘96 side and the current side, which was also phenomenal.

It would be hard to pick between Alan Shearer and Harry Kane, slightly different players but top performers.

Darren Anderton as well would be a top performer, all the Manchester United players loved him and wanted him to join the club when he was playing for Tottenham, after they realised how good he was when he was playing for England.

Although maybe not as good on the ball, Paul Ince would do the job Declan Rice does, David Seaman as well was a top top performer and he'd probably be better than Jordan Pickford for me.

When Will Harry Kane Win His First Trophy?

Harry Kane wouldn’t mind picking up his first trophy as England captain this summer at the Euros.

Trophies are going to come for him, he’s just going to have to wait a little bit longer.

Teddy Sheringham’s Euro 2024 Prediction

I think England have a lot of players at just the right time in their careers, we can go to the Euros and have a fantastic shot after going close in recent tournaments.

I'll stick my neck out and say we're going to win it.

*England are 3/1 to win Euro 2024 per the latest football odds at BoyleSports.

Will Gareth Southgate be managing England at the 2026 World Cup?

If England do well at Euro 2024, there's no reason for me why Gareth Southgate would walk away, but if he does have to go it will be on his own terms.

Can Nottingham Forest Push on and Avoid a Relegation Battle Next Season?

Nottingham Forest have done well again this year.

They've had their problems with the financial stuff and all that speculation but they've come through that and hopefully they'll move on and have a better season next year and be away from all the troubles that the threat of relegation brings.

Postecoglu A Breath of Fresh Air At Tottenham

I love the way that Ange Postecoglu has spoken this season and I think overall he’s perfect for Tottenham. He gets his team on the ball, which Tottenham fans want to see, which is why as a whole I think fans have enjoyed the season.

He's been a breath of fresh air for Tottenham and although there have been one or two little upsets, hopefully that gets put to one side and there will be more progression next season.

Moyes Treated Harsh At West Ham

I think David Moyes was treated very harshly and I think West Ham should be careful what they wish for.

If they get a tough start to the season and they play a few of the top teams and have only three points on the board across the first six or seven games, all of a sudden you’re looking over your shoulder.

Will Julen Lopetegui know how to handle that? David Moyes wouldn’t panic and would know what it takes to get his team out of trouble, so this is going to be a tough test for West Ham this year.
