Eurovision Betting Favourites 2023

Sweden has been installed as the red-hot favourite for Eurovision 2023 at odds of 5/4 for their song Tattoo with former winner Loreen.

Sweden means business at this year’s contest as they bring back Loreen who won the contest with them for the hit song “Euphoria” back in 2012 which has been arguably one of if not the most Eurovision songs to break out into the mainstream in recent history.

This latest song has only been out since March 11th and has already been viewed over 3.2 million times on YouTube as looks to be the main contender for this year’s prize.

Finland 7/2

Finland is the second favourite for this year’s contest at 7/2 for their song Cha Cha Cha sung by Finnish rapper Käärijä

Finland has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest fifty-five times since entering first back in 1961. They have won the contest on one occasion in 2006 with the song "Hard Rock Hallelujah" performed by Lordi. In the 2022 contest, "Jezebel" performed by The Rasmus managed to qualify Finland to the final placing twenty-first.

Ukraine 7/1

Ukraine is the third favourite to win Eurovision 2023 at 5/1 odds with the song “Heart of Steel” performed by TVORCHI. The implied probability of those odds suggests Ukraine has a 40% chance of winning this year’s Eurovision.

Ukraine is the defending champions having won the Eurovision last year with the song “Stefania” performed by Kalush Orchestra. The country received 439 points in televoting in the final which was the most ever received by a country. A lot of people believe that Ukraine’s success in Eurovision 2022 is related to the invasion by Russia and other European countries wanting to show support for Ukraine.

Norway 14/1

The fourth favourite in the betting for this year’s Eurovision is Norway at 16/1 odds. Norway will be represented by Alessandra with the song “Queen of Kings” at this year’s song contest.

The Norwegians have won the Eurovision three times with the most recent of those victories coming in 2009 courtesy of Alexander Rybak’s hit song “Fairytale”. This is another Scandinavian country with a strong recent track record in the competition with six top-10 finishes over the past 10 years.

How Many Times have Sweden Won the Eurovision?

Sweden has won the Eurovision 6 times. Their first victory came in 1974 when Swedish band ABBA won the song contest with their song “Waterloo”. Their second victory came a decade later in 1984 when Pop-Group Herreys won with "Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley"

Their third success at the event came when Carola sang her rendition of the song titled Fångad av en stormvind and their fourth success came when Charlotte Perrelli sung “Take Me to Your Heaven”.

Their fifth success in the competition came when Loreen herself entered with “Euphoria” in 2012. The song won the competition with a total of 372 points, at the time the second-highest point total in the contest's history. Sweden’s most recent success came in 2015 when Måns Zelmerlöw won with the song “Heroes”.

The only country with more Eurovision Song Contest wins than Sweden is Ireland and they can match the Irish's total if they win as favourites this year. You can also check out our preview of Ireland's chances at Eurovision 2023.
