In this post we take a look at the Strictly Come Dancing odds with one familiar Irish contestant among the favourites for the Strictly crown.
The Meathwoman is one of fifteen new celebrities vying for the glitterball and she claimed she would benefit from the ‘brutal honesty’ of her professional partner when she was matched up with Carlos Gu on the launch show last weekend. Gu is a Chinese national champion and made it all the way to the final last year to take one of the runners-up spots with actress and singer Molly Rainford.
While Scanlon mightn't be favourite for the show as of now, she is the favourite to be Top Female at short odds of 5/4 in the betting.
Strong support for Scanlon to go one better means she is within a whisker of 3/1 favourite Bobby Brazier, who is being well backed to boost the strong record of EastEnders actors alongside Australian pro partner Diane Buswell.
Ex-tennis star Annabel Croft is also expected to serve up a strong challenge for the glitterball and is closing in on the favourites at 9/1 from 14/1, but the likes of Les Dennis (50/1) and Krishnan Guru-Murthy (66/1) are rated prime candidates for early exits.
Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said:
“Angela Scanlon insists her Irish dancing experience gives her no advantage on Strictly, but we expect some fancy footwork and she’s making the right moves in the betting at least.”
