Teddy Sheringham has thrown his support behind Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou, describing his approach as "refreshing" despite the team’s recent struggles.

In an exclusive interview with BoyleSports, the former Spurs star gave his take on the current situation at Tottenham. Despite recent struggles, Sheringham believes the Australian coach's style of play and trust in young talent offers a bright future for the club.

He also weighed in on what the future might hold for football legends Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo plus Nottingham Forest’s quest for a Champions League spot.

Sheringham Backs ‘Refreshing’ Ange Postecoglou At Tottenham

Q: What have you made of Tottenham this season?

Tottenham have had so many players out that they are bound to struggle. Look at the issues they have had in defence and you can see why Ange Postecoglou has been having a tough time because of that. We can only really judge when these players are back.

But young players are getting chances and I think that will be a positive thing in the long run. I think Spurs need to stick with Ange because they have shown some great football and get bums off seats.

It’s not going how he plans at the moment but not having big players around makes a big difference. I think Ange has been refreshing for Spurs and although they have been shaky at the back, you know they are going to score goals and give it everything.

*Tottenham are 33/1 to finish in the top four this season according to the latest Premier League betting at BoyleSports.

Q: Does Ange need to be careful with his comments?

I can see why Ange Postecoglou was so annoyed because of the ball striking Joelinton’s hand, we’ve seen goals disallowed for any hand contract before a goal in the past. It's the consistency levels in decisions which people get upset about.

Could This Be The Next Step In Wayne Rooney’s Coaching Career?

Q: What do you think of Wayne Rooney’s struggles in management?

With Wayne Rooney leaving Plymouth, it does make you wonder what he does from here. I went into management in League Two and if that goes badly, where do you go from there?

No one will take a chance in the division above if it didn’t go well in a lower tier. For Rooney it’s tough and it will be interesting to see how will employ him after he struggled in the Championship.

But I’m sure he will persevere, he wants to be a successful manager and may have to leave the country to get a new experience and learn his trade.

Q: Would Wayne Rooney be a good striking coach? Could he help Rasmus Hojlund?

Would Wayne Rooney be a good striking coach? Without a doubt. I think it is a very important role nowadays. There are set-piece coaches, back four coaches, striker coaches and Wayne's been one of the top players in the country.

Could he help Rasmus Hojlund? Of course. He's an experienced player who's played for his country a hundred times and scored goals at the top level. So any advice from him you would have to listen to.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Days Playing In Europe Are Over

Q: Do you have a dream move in mind for Cristiano Ronaldo should he leave Saudi?

I can’t see Cristiano Ronaldo playing at the highest level again after three years in Saudi, he might want to go and play in America but I reckon he is finished when it comes to playing in Europe.

Q: Can Cristiano Ronaldo play deep into his 40s?

Can Cristiano Ronaldo play deep into his 40s? That depends. At that age, it gets harder to recover from knocks and minor injuries. He has an unbelievable body and looks after it a million times better than players did in my day.

If anyone is going to play into his mid-40s then it’s him because of how he has looked after himself.

Nottingham Forest’s Surprise Season

Q: How impressed have you been with Nottingham Forest?

Nottingham Forest are surprising everyone and you get one team every season that pulls away from the pack and exceeds all expectations.

They’ve done that for half a season and now they need to try and keep it going because getting back into Europe would be unbelievable.

They are in a Champions League spot at the moment which would be incredible in bringing new finances and players to the club.

*Nottingham Forest are 3/1 to finish in the top four per the latest Premier League odds at BoyleSports.

*Prices are subject to fluctuation.
