Sport Events Cancelled After Queen Elizabeth II's Death

Here are the current list of sport events cancelled after the tragic death of Queen Elizabeth II's death on Wednesday.

HORSE RACING FOR SUNDAY IS ON AT DONCASTER AND CHEPSTOW

She was the United Kingdom's longest-serving monarch, reigning for 70 years and celebrated her Platinum Jubilee earlier this summer.

Football fans will be eager to know whether this weekend's Premier League and Football League matches will be take place, with a decision set to be announced today.

However, Burnley vs Norwich and Tranmere vs Stockport set for Friday night are off. The Irish FA have said all football in Northern Ireland will not happen either.

In Scotland, the Championship game between Cove Rangers and Dundee is also off.

In Ulster, Northern Ireland, all rugby and hockey matches are postponed, and Ulster's friendly up in Glasgow, Scotland, is now off.

The Irish FA released a statement on Friday morning, saying: "As a mark of respect following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, this weekend's fixtures across all affiliated football in Northern Ireland, and all other organised football activity, at all levels, have been postponed."

Furthermore, the Irish Rugby Football Union and Horse Racing Ireland have expressed their sadness at the Queen's death on social media.

In a tweet, they said: "The IRFU express our condolences to the Royal Family on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. Our sympathies are with our friends in the Home Unions and their supporters."

Taoiseach Micheál Martin said: "Our world is a poorer place for her passing but a far richer and better place as a result of her long life and enduring contribution. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis."

Horse Racing has been stopped on Thursday (today), while Friday's meetings are also cancelled.

The British Horseracing Authority are set to decide today on when meetings will be able to resume.

England vs South Africa in Test Cricket is off, and play at the BMW PGA Championships at Wentworth has been stopped.

In tennis, there was a moment of silence and remembrance at the US Open women's semi-final between Ons Jabeur and Caroline Garcia. The final between Jabeur and Iga Swiatek is set to take place.

Meanwhile, in boxing, the weigh-in for Savannah Marshall and Claressa Shields will now take place behind closed doors, with the fight still set for Saturday night at the 02 Arena in London.

However, a statement to confirm whether the bout definitely happens will also be issued later on Friday.

The Italian F1 Grand Prix on Sunday is unlikely to be affected, but drivers and teams will all take part in a miniute's silence today during practice.
