Six Nations Betting Favourites
France – 2025 Six Nations Favourites
The favourite for the 2025 Six Nations are France at odds of 13/8. Those odds imply a 38.1% chance that the World Number 4 country win the title for the first time since 2022.
France’s 2024 Campaign
France finished second in the 2024 Six Nations Championship coming 5 points behind winners Ireland , but it was a tournament of two halves. They opened it with a big loss at the hands of Ireland, a narrow win over Scotland and a shock draw with Italy. They then defeated Wales convincingly and won a thriller with England in their closing games to finish on a high.
Following the Six Nations, France played out a drawn series and defeated Uruguay last summer. The Autumn Nations Series saw them perform brilliantly to close out the season with a 52-12 win over Japan, a 30-29 thriller against New Zealand and a 37-23 win over Argentina.
Head Coach
Galthié since his appointment in 2019 has achieved the remarkable feat of making the unpredictable French predictable (in a positive sense). He holds a win rate of 77.78% as Head Coach and I think his experience and craft could be the difference maker for them in this Championship.

Ireland
The second favourite for the 2025 Six Nations are Ireland at odds of 7/4. Those odds imply a 36.4% chance that the World Number 2 side win a historical third successive Six Nations title.
Ireland’s 2024 Campaign
Their 2024 success in the event was history-making in many senses, their 31-7 win over Wales in their third fixture meant Ireland tied England’s record for consecutive wins with 11 and extended their unbeaten home run to 18. Their defeat of Scotland in their final fixture meant they became back-to-back Six Nations outright champions for only the third time in history, emulating the class of 1949 and 2015.
They continued their run of form by playing out a drawn series against World Champions South Africa in July. The Autumn Series commenced with a disappointing 13-23 loss to New Zealand before they concluded the season in style with wins over Argentina, Fiji and Australia.
Head Coach
While Ireland are inarguably one of the strongest forces in World Rugby, 2025 brings an interesting question in how they will deal with the absence of Andy Farrell who has coached the nation since 2019 with him taking a “sabbatical” as he assumes the role of British & Irish Lions Head Coach this summer.
Defence Coach Simon Easterby is assuming the mantle for this Championship, and it will be interesting to see if he can keep the wheel of success turning or if he will suffer from teething problems.

England
The third favourite for the 2025 Six Nations are England at odds of 9/2. This suggests an 18.2% chance of them winning their first title since 2020.
England’s 2024 Campaign
England came third in the 2024 Six Nations Championship with a record of three wins and two defeats from their five matches. They narrowly overcame Italy and Wales in their opening two fixtures before losing a thriller 30-21 to Scotland. The highlight of their tournament was a dramatic 23-22 win over Ireland on St Patrick’s Day before they lost a 33-31 thriller to France in their final game.
The second half of their 2024 is hard to gauge, as while they remained intensely competitive against Rugby’s “Elite” there were few victories to boast about. In the summer they defeated Japan before being beaten by 1 and 7 points respectively in their two games against New Zealand.
They again played the All Blacks in the Autumn Series with a similar story losing out by 2 points in a 22-24 scoreline, they then lost 37-42 to Australia and 20-29 against South Africa before concluding the year with another victory over Japan this time 59-14.
Head Coach
While not the force of old, the signs are there that they could be about to become dangerous again under Steve Borthwick and if they can beat Ireland in their opener that could just flip the narrative of what happens in their 2025 campaign.

Scotland
Scotland are fourth in the betting to win the 2025 Six Nations at 671. The Scots have never won a Six Nations title. Their last success came in 1999 in the last iteration of the tournament in the Five Nations era.
Scotland’s 2024 Campaign
Last year they finished the competition in 4th with 2 wins and 3 defeats though one of those victories was a historic 30-21 Calcutta Cup win over England. The second half of their 2024 was largely positive though the quality of opposition was considerably lower with wins over Canada, the USA, Chile and Uruguay during the Summer Internationals.
The Autumn Series was also largely positive, defeating Fiji 57-17 and though they lost 15-32 to South Africa in their remaining fixtures they had a 59-21 win over Portugal and a 27-13 win over Australia. It’s very hard to know what you’re going to get from this Scottish side in any given game.

Wales
Wales are priced at a big 66/1 for the 2025 Six Nations Championship suggesting only a 1.5% chance of winning their first title since 2021.
Wales’ 2024 Campaign
The Welsh had a miserable 2024 Six Nations campaign losing all 5 of their 5 games for a points difference of -51. This meant they earned the unwanted title of being the Wooden Spoon for the second time in the Six Nations era (2003 too) finishing with only 4 points and a considerable 7 back of second from bottom Italy who they were defeated by 21-24.
Wales are clearly in a transitional phase and lost their remaining 6 games of 2024, first in the summer against South Africa and Australia twice. In November they lost by 5 points against Fiji before being convincingly beaten by South Africa and Australia again meaning they’ve now lost 12 successive matches.

Italy
Italy are the biggest outsiders for the 2025 Six Nations at odds of 250/1 . Italy joined the competition in 2000 to form the Six Nations.
Since their inclusion, the Italians’ performances have been underwhelming, never finishing above 4th (achieved in 2013). More often than not they’re found bottom of the pile, winless.
Italy’s 2024 Campaign
Italy put on an impressive showing in the 2024 Six Nations Championship only losing to England by 3 points in a 24-27 thriller defeating the Scots 31-29 in another, drawing 13-13 against France away and beating Wales 21-24. In fact, their only poor showing of the tournament was a 36-0 defeat to Ireland in their opening game.
During the summer they lost to Samoa but beat Tonga and Japan to continue their strong form and in the Autumn Internationals despite an opening 18-50 loss to Argentina they recovered to beat Georgia 20-17 and only lost 11-29 to New Zealand. They’ve come on leaps and bounds since former Stade Francais coach Gonzalo Quesada was appointed.
