Simon Zebo teamed up with BoyleSports to preview Ireland’s Six Nations clash with Italy this weekend.

Former international Simon Zebo has admitted that Ireland was humbled during last weekend’s Six Nations defeat to France.

The loss in Dublin means that Simon Easterby’s men go into their final game against Italy in Rome needing a victory and results elsewhere to go their way, with France now hot odds-on favourites at 1/10 to take the title.

In an exclusive interview with BoyleSports ahead of the Saturday clash in the Italian capital, ex-Munster man Zebo said he expected Ireland to take care of their part of the bargain comfortably.

Ireland’s French Humbling

“With two late consolation tries for Ireland, the scoreline last weekend probably didn’t reflect the dominance that France had,” he said. “It was a humbling for sure, but they have the opportunity to bounce back in stylish fashion and I fancy Ireland to come out on top pretty convincingly.

Italy v Ireland Preview – ‘Tough Test’ Awaits Ireland in Rome

“We need to put in a big performance and finish the tournament on a high. There are a few question marks about their fluidity and style of play and a belief that it hasn’t quite clicked.

“The Italians, under a new coach, are playing a good brand of rugby, they’ve got key players going well like Capuozzo and Menoncello. But after their heavy defeat to France, it’s hard to see them putting up a fight against opposition of the same caliber, which Ireland is.

“It’ll be a tough test, it’ll be physical no doubt, because the Italians always put it up to you. But I expect Ireland to get a lot of rhythm and flow back into their attacking game and cause Italy a lot of problems. I don’t know if they can put in as big a performance as France did against Italy, but I still expect a big score.”
