In Alisson’s absence, Ireland’s Caoimhin Kelleher has been a star performer for Liverpool this season.
Now, with the summer transfer window drawing closer and with Jurgen Klopp departing, the question looms as to what is next for the Irish shot-stopper. Stay at Liverpool, one of the biggest clubs in the world but serving as deputy to Alisson Becker? Or push for a move to be the number one at another big club? That is the dilemma facing Kelleher.
At BoyleSports we caught up with former Premier League stalwart Dion Dublin who has weighed in on the situation Kelleher is facing. Dublin also spoke to us about who his top picks are for the Republic of Ireland job and what the FAI need to consider when hiring Stephen Kenny’s replacement.
Caoimhin Kelleher’s Liverpool Dilemma
Caoimhin Kelleher has been brilliant for Liverpool and he won’t like sitting on the bench again, he has had big shoes to fill and has made some outstanding saves.
He’s also got a bit more vocal and is better when it comes to corners, but I think he knows that Allison is the top dog, but his performances have not done his chances of playing any harm.
There are a lot of clubs that will take him now, but Liverpool are in a good position as well, so they have to make sure that whoever came in as their back-up was just as good.
They'll probably keep hold of them.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer A Great Fit For Rep. of Ireland Job
I think Ole Gunnar Solskjaer being linked to the Ireland job is really positive. There's nothing about that I find negative.
I think Ole has proved himself to be a very good man and good at putting his arm around the shoulder of players, when you’re on international duty that’s exactly what you need to hear.
Roy Keane Would Be A Big Miss From Punditry If He Takes Management Job
I’d like to see Roy Keane get back into management because he’s said that it is what he wants to do. But I would miss his punditry!
Fans would miss him as well because he doesn’t hold back and people love to hate him, but I think he wants to get back on the training ground and coach again.
I think an international role with Ireland or someone else would suit him because he could still spend time at home with his family which he wants to do.

What FAI Need To Consider When Selecting New Manager
Picking between Solskjaer and Keane, it depends on what route Ireland want to take. They’d both be good options, you have to think about if the players can deal with Roy.
Do the players want to deal with his way as if you're appointing a manager? You've got to look at your dressing room and see if he would be a good fit.
You have to get a manager that suits the players and have the players to suit the manager. If you’re an international player you should already be pretty good, it’s just about small tweaks on the training ground and the relationships with the boss.
