Scotland have made a rock-solid start to their World Cup qualifying campaign by picking up four points out of six, but face another crucial test when entertaining Greece on Thursday night.

The visitors prevailed 3-0 at Hampden Park in a Nations League promotion play-off back in March but were recently rocked by a home loss to Denmark in this pool.

With the pressure very much on in such a tight four-team section, we feel both sides may settle for a share of the spoils here, and 21/10 for a draw is our first Scotland vs Greece prediction.

Scotland are priced at 17/10 to make it seven points from their opening three qualifiers and in return go four points clear of their opponents. Greece can be backed at 8/5 favourites a win which would have them leapfrog Scotland in the qualifying group on six points, while the draw could be an undervalued chance with odds of 21/10.

There can be no hiding the fact that Scotland choked when these teams last met, but equally, it has to be remembered they did beat Greece 1-0 in Piraeus three days earlier.

After a couple of summer friendlies brought mixed results, Steve Clarke has rallied his troops to produce two fine performances in this competition, boosting hopes of a first World Cup finals appearance since 1998.

Holding pool favourites Denmark to a goalless stalemate in Copenhagen was a very creditable effort, and the Scots followed up by winning 2-0 away to Belarus.

Assistant manager Steven Naismith insists “the confidence is as high as I’ve seen” in the Scotland camp after qualifying for the last two European Championships.

He said: “We’ve managed to do two Euros, we get to the play-offs for the previous World Cup, and narrowly miss out on that.

“But that all builds. It all builds on determination, an anger for not making the last World Cup, getting to tournaments, knowing that you can get there. It all feeds in on top of the players and individuals progressing at the clubs.”

One player who has certainly taken his game to new heights at club level is Scott McTominay, now a Serie A title winner with Napoli.

The box-to-box midfielder won’t be fazed by another big occasion and is a tempting 10/3 to score at any time in the Scotland vs Greece odds .

Ivan Jovanovic has turned Greece into a force to be reckoned with again, and they certainly don’t suffer from travel sickness.

Prior to the Hampden Park pummelling of Scotland, they edged out England 2-1 at Wembley and enjoyed 2-0 wins over Republic of Ireland in Dublin and Finland in Helsinki in the Nations League.

June brought convincing friendly victories over Slovakia and Bulgaria, while their bid to reach a first World Cup since 2014 began with a 5-1 drubbing of Belarus.

Going down 3-0 at home to Denmark was a major blip, but Naismith believes that scoreline was harsh on Greece.

He added: “If you watch the performance though, you look at the result and you think Denmark battered them, but the game wasn’t like that.

“The game was tighter. Especially, two of Denmark’s goals were of real quality from what is a top team. It probably highlights the fine margins within the group, the squads.”

Captain Anastasios Bakasetas and star striker Vangelis Pavlidis are two stand-out performers for Greece, while the sky is the limit for 22-year-old playmaker Giannis Konstantelias and teenage sensation Konstantinos Karetsas.

Pavlidis enjoyed a hot streak of five goals in as many games for Benfica last month and netted for his country versus Belarus, so 9/4 he gets on the scoresheet again here is added to our Scotland vs Greece betting tips .
