Speaking exclusively with BOYLE Sports former Premier League player Stefan Schwarz has spoken about the Mohamed Salah situation if he can resolve his issues with Arne Slot and the evolving chemistry between himself Wirtz and Ekitike.
The former Sweden International also offered his perspective about fellow compatriots including if Alexander Isak could make a move again and the importance of him finding his fitness for the Swedish National Team.
Schwarz offers his insight into what the future may hold for fellow Swedes Krafth backing him for a big move to Liverpool and whether Elanga made the right move going to Newcastle.
Mohamed Salah
Is Salah Staying?
It's been good to see Liverpool performing better in the last couple of games, and the quality of a player like Mohamed Salah doesn’t just disappear. It’s always beneficial to have a talent like that in your team. Of course, he’s getting older. It’s a natural process. Maybe he’s not as fast as he was. That doesn’t mean that he can’t adapt his game because he has always been a very intelligent player.
With intelligent players, when they lose one quality, they adapt and make it work by finding other qualities. They have to be clever and intelligent because that's the nature of things in the animal world and the human world. You always want to be better, so you have to adapt.
You can see his link-up with the new Liverpool players is improving with his skill and work rate, and maybe he has cleared the air with Arne Slot. I hope they have turned the page and are looking forward to finishing off the season in a good manner.
Is The Salah Criticism Justified?
Wirtz Evolving Chemistry With Ekitike And Salah
Florian Wirtz looks like a different player with Hugo Eiktike and Mohamed Salah playing off him. Florian is a great player. Sometimes, maybe he’s been played a little bit out of position, but the quality is there. He's a good playmaker. He has a good relationship with his teammates. He can score goals. He can give assists. He is very good in small spaces. It seems like they are getting things together now to bring out the best in Wirtz .
Alexander Isak
Could Isak Move Again?
First, Alexander Isak has to come back from his injury, and I think he will be a very good fit for Liverpool once he is fit. He's a young player. He has a lot of qualities. He’s very cool in the box, a very good finisher. He can produce magic in small areas and tight spaces. The only problem is his injury history.
I think Liverpool will work with Isak to get the right balance, so he doesn’t miss out on too many games when he returns, so he is a much better player for next season. He is a top striker, but when you don’t have the continuity, and you are injured, it’s very difficult to reach the top again. He isn’t a world-class striker right now, but he has the potential to be one.
Finding Fitness For Isak
It looks very difficult for Alexander Isak to participate in Sweden's playoff for the World Cup against Ukraine, but the most important thing for him is to get back fully fit and recovered so he’s well prepared to get a good number of games under his belt. Liverpool will need the player they were looking for when they signed Isak to get them goals.
I think it's always a positive thing if a player goes to the World Cup, European Championship or AFCON . It's always beneficial for the player because you compete against the best. It gives you the belief and the drive to show your skills to the rest of the world. If you have a good tournament, then your club will benefit as well.
Transfer Talk
Emil Krafth
I think Emil Krafth is someone who can be an important player in Liverpool’s squad, even if it’s on the bench.
He's very solid, very professional and is a good trainer. He can play in different positions, too. He's very tactically aware, and that's why I think they like him at Newcastle because he's a top pro. A top lad. The ambition for him is to be happy, and there is nothing wrong with being happy at a great club like Newcastle , and he does seem happy with his situation. Sweden just needs him fit and sharp to get us to the World Cup.
Will Elanga Regret Newcastle Move?
Anthony Elanga did very well at Nottingham Forest , but it hasn’t worked out so far at Newcastle, and sometimes you take one step back to take two steps forward. Sometimes a move like this shows you where you need to improve your game, and it is an opportunity to show your character and personality to overcome the situation.
Elanga has tremendous speed. He is very fast. He is growing as a player, too. He is still one for the future for the Swedish national team. We need his pace for Sweden . We don't have too many players like him, and he will be a threat. He can open up spaces for other players with Sweden , and hopefully, he can score some goals and provide some glory for Sweden in the future.
