World Cup Qualifiers Tips: Saturday Best Bets

Switzerland to Draw with Sweden

Graham Potter’s first match in charge of misfiring Sweden is a testing one as they travel to a Switzerland side looking to book their place in next year’s World Cup.

Sweden are bottom after picking up just one point from their opening four matches, costing Jon Dahl Tomasson his job, but they still have two chances of securing a play-off spot, either by finishing second in Group B or through their Nations League performance.

To achieve the first one, they must start with a Geneva victory over leaders Switzerland, who are three points clear of second-placed Kosovo and have yet to concede a goal.

Denmark to Beat Belarus with Over 3.5 Goals in Total

Denmark are assured of a top-two finish in Group C and will face-off against Scotland for a place in the World Cup finals next week no matter what happens in the penultimate round of matches.

The Danes should head to Glasgow on the back of a win over Belarus, though, a side they thrashed 6-0 away from home in October.

That is one of four successive defeats for last-placed Belarus, who are now only playing for pride in their final two games.

Spain to Be Winning at Half-Time and Full-Time Against Georgia

Spain’s four successive wins without conceding a goal has left the Group E leaders on the verge of a World Cup spot and they could clinch it this weekend.

However, the 2010 world champions would need to beat Georgia and also require a helping hand from Bulgaria to avoid having to face second-placed Turkey in a winner-takes-all clash in Seville next week.

Georgia have only three points from a victory over Bulgaria but are still mathematically able to claim a play-off spot, although their chances appear remote.

Turkey to Beat Bulgaria with Over 2.5 Goals in Total

Turkey have responded superbly to their 6-0 home drubbing by Spain with convincing wins over Bulgaria (6-1) and Georgia (4-1) and they could yet pip the Spanish to top spot.

To do that, however, they would likely need a big win over Bulgaria and to then defeat the world number ones, who have a 100 per cent record and are yet to concede a goal, in their final game.

Rock-bottom Bulgaria don’t have to worry about any of that as, having lost all four games by a combined 16-1 scoreline, they are already eliminated.

Austria to Beat Cyprus with BTTS

Austria saw their perfect start to Group H ended by a stoppage-time defeat to Romania last month and they still have a bit of work to do to reach their first World Cup since 1998.

Ralf Rangnick’s side are two points ahead of Bosnia-Herzegovina and will hope at the very least to keep that advantage intact ahead of the top two’s clash in Vienna next week.

Bosnia are at home to third-placed Romania on Saturday while Austria go to Cyprus, who despite picking up a creditable eight points so far have no chance of claiming a play-off spot.
