Saturday ITV racing tips from Kempton, Newcastle, Lingfield & Fairyhouse
This Saturday’s ITV racing tips cover top-class National Hunt action from Kempton, Newcastle and Fairyhouse, plus a strong all-weather Flat meeting at Lingfield.
With Cheltenham just around the corner, we’re looking to boost our Festival coffers with these selections.
Kempton, Newcastle, Lingfield, & Fairyhouse Tips – ITV Racing Saturday
Kempton 13:45 Tip
Kempton 13:45 – Precious Man
Dan Skelton’s French import showed plenty of guts to get up late on at Auteuil last summer and has put in a couple of pleasing efforts since moving to the UK.
Precious Man was a promising second at Cheltenham in November and showed the benefit of a subsequent wind operation by securing a course and distance success prior to this crack at Grade Two glory in the Adonis Juvenile Hurdle.
Lingfield 14:00 Tip
Lingfield 14:00 – Chancellor
John and Thady Gosden’s one-time Classic hope has been rejuvenated by having a wind operation and being gelded.
The classy son of Kingman has claimed two smart wins and a narrow second since returning to action and looks well up to giving his yard a fifth Winter Derby triumph in eight years.
Kempton 14:25 Tip
Kempton 14:25 – Jax Junior
The Lucy Wadham-trained seven-year-old returned to winning ways when staying on strongly to score impressively at Sandown and can relish a step up in trip to two and a half miles in the Pendil Novices’ Chase.
Jax Junior already has a victory at this track on his CV from when slamming Jeriko Du Reponet by a dozen lengths and may not have yet reached his full potential.
Newcastle 14:43 Tip
Newcastle 14:43 – Mr Vango
Sara Bradstock’s popular front-runner paid for a poor jump at the final fence when second to Twig in the Becher Chase at Aintree but was only beaten a short head after rallying bravely.
He was found to be suffering from corns when pulled up at Sandown last time out but is taken to put that behind him and come out on top in the Eider Chase on Tyneside.
Kempton 15:00 Tip
Kempton 15:00 – Klub De Reve
Harry Derham’s string has been in impressive form recently and this progressive six-year-old comfortably shed his maiden tag by 10 lengths at this track on Boxing Day.
Stepping up to Grade Two level in the Dovecote Novices’ Hurdle is a big ask, but he does still hold an entry in the Supreme at Cheltenham.
Fairyhouse 15:00 Tip
Fairyhouse 15:15 – Three Card Brag
Willie Mullins bids to land the Bobbyjo Chase for a record-extending 15th time but Gordon Elliott did break that stranglehold a couple of times with Roi Du Mee and has another strong hand this term.
Stellar Story and Gerri Colombe would have big claims on their best form, but Three Card Brag has the best recent credentials after finishing first and second in two red-hot handicaps at Cheltenham and Newbury.
Kempton 15:35 Tip
Kempton 15:35 – Rising Dust
Shrewd Irish handler Emmet Mullins loves nothing more than plundering a big UK prize and will have high hopes of this in-form raider going well in the £150,000 Ladbrokes Trophy off a light weight.
Rising Dust has been a winning machine since switching to the care of Mullins, registering five victories from his seven starts for the stable.
The handicapper has reacted accordingly by hiking him up 39lb for a hat-trick of wins at Thurles over fences but the eight-year-old still only has 10st 4lb to carry here and the booking of Sean Bowen shows connections mean business.
