France and England are coming off painful and potentially costly defeats heading into the final round of an enthralling Six Nations.
Les Bleus saw their hopes of a Grand Slam go up in smoke as they lost a remarkable match to second-placed Scotland 50-40 at Murrayfield.
The good news for France is their brilliant late rally in Edinburgh - they trailed 47-14 with 15 minutes to go - earned them a bonus point which means they remain top of the table and in control of their own destiny.
There is little good news for England ahead of their daunting trip to the Stade de France, where they haven’t won since 2016.
England hammered Wales 48-7 in their opening match to suggest a title tilt, but they are now fighting to avoid finishing in the bottom two after successive defeats to Scotland, Ireland and Italy.
Last weekend’s 23-18 defeat in Rome - England’s first loss to Italy in 33 meetings - has heaped the pressure on Steve Borthwick and his charges, and much could hang on their response in Paris.
We expect England to put on a much improved display but still think France will take the victory, with our opening France vs England prediction being a home win with under 61.5 points in total @ 6/5.

How To Watch France vs England
The Six Nations round 5 match is scheduled to begin at 20:10 (GMT) in Paris on Saturday and will be shown live on ITV1.
France vs England Head-To-Head Record
England beat France in an Allianz Stadium (more commonly known as Twickenham) thriller last year, Fin Smith converting Elliot Daly’s 79th-minute try to snatch a 26-25 win.
That was England’s first victory in four matches against their cross-channel rivals and gained a measure of revenge for France’s crushing 53-10 win at Twickenham in 2023 - England’s heaviest home defeat.
The last time England beat France on their own patch was 10 years ago, when a 31-21 victory by Eddie Jones’ rejuvenated side saw them clinch a first Grand Slam since 2003.
Looking at the France vs England odds, the visitors are 9/2 to end that winless run in the French capital, and 7/1 for that winning margin to be between 1-12 points.
However, France to be leading at half-time and full-time @ 4/11 is our selection.

Les Bleus, Scotland and Ireland all have a chance to win the 2026 Championship heading into the final round but it is the free-scoring French who look to hold most of the aces.
The defending champions are level on 16 points with Scotland but boast a huge points difference over their closest challengers, while Ireland - who host the Scots at Dublin - are two points further back.
With the Ireland-Scotland match taking place earlier on Saturday, France will know what they need to do come kick-off at the Stade de France.
A maximum points haul against England would settle any argument and see the French crowned Six Nations champions for a record eighth time - moving them one clear of the English.
France have scored 24 tries so far, seven more than any other team, and young wingers Louis Bielle-Biarrey and Theo Attissogbe have contributed nine of them.
Bordeaux star Bielle-Biarrey, last season’s player of the tournament, has scored four of his five tries in the opening 18 minutes of matches and is 6/1 to cross first on Saturday. Pau ace Attissogbe is 8/13 to add to his four-try haul so far.
England Form Guide
Borthwick has only made one change to his starting line-up as England look to avoid their worst Six Nations tournament.
The head coach made a dozen changes for the trip to Italy but, after suffering a shock defeat, has decided against another overhaul with back-rower Ollie Chessum replacing Sam Underhill being the only switch.
“It’s a huge challenge under the lights in Paris against a very strong France side,” said Borthwick, who received the backing of the RFU following the Rome loss.
“(It) is one of the great rivalries in international rugby and we’re looking forward to the occasion.”
England are 9/2 for an upset victory this weekend while, if you fancy them to nullify a fast-starting French side, you can get 7/2 for the visitors to be leading at half-time, which rounds off our France vs England betting tips.
