In this post, we look at where the destination for legendary Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo could be after  FIFA president Gianni Infantino revealed he is in talks to play for a side at the Club World Cup.

Lionel Messi will be there with Inter Miami, but could CR7 be set to make an appearance also?

***As of the 30th of May at 3pm he looks set to extend his stay with Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr.

Ronaldo Profile

CR7 is widely considered by many as the Greatest Footballer of all time, and he is certainly in that conversation after scoring a total career tally of 800 Goals and providing 243 Assists across a staggering 1054 club matches along the way winning practically every major team and individual prize available to him.

It’s not just in club football he has shone with Ronaldo the top International Goalscorer of all-time with 136 Goals from his 219 Caps with Portugal with the highlight being his victory with them at Euro 2016.

Despite it now being past his 40th birthday, Ronaldo remains a prolific goalscorer and following 35 goals and 4 assists for Al-Nassr last season there will be no shortage of suitors for his signature should he decide to leave.

Ronaldo's Next Club Favourites

Al-Hilal -  EVS

Al-Hilal looks likely to be Ronaldo’s next destination with them being the only Saudi team set to partake in the Club World Cup next month.

Following a prolific record of 99 goals and 19 assists since making the switch to the Saudi Pro League, it would make sense if he made the move to Al-Hilal due in large part to their participation in the Club World Cup it could make it a simple switch for him and his family.

The switch to Al-Hilal would also be a relatively simple transfer deal to complete due to his current club Al-Nassr being majority-owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF),

There’s a lot which makes sense about this rumoured transfer move.

Al-Nassr-Riyadh – 2/1

Second favourite to be Ronaldo’s club next season is his current club Al-Nassr with odds of 2/1 of him staying at the club.

Ronaldo has been under contract with the club since the 30th of December 2022 when he signed a contract which reportedly gave him the highest football salary ever at €200 million per year including a guaranteed football salary of €90 million.

He hit the 800th goal of his club career in what could be his final appearance for Al-Nassr on their 3-2 final-day defeat of the Saudi Pro League season against Al Fateh. It’ll be interesting to see if Ronaldo thinks he has unfinished business at the club with Al Nassr failing to win a league title while he’s been at the club.

Any Portuguese club – 5/2

CR7’s next most likely destination is seen as being “Any” Portuguese club which could see him return to play club football on his home soil since he left Sporting in 2003 for Man United.

With Viktor Gyokeres seemingly on his way out of Sporting this summer, Sporting could sign the most poetic of replacements if Cristiano Ronaldo was to return to his boyhood club the one who he was contracted to from the age of 12 in 1997 till he left the club for  Man United in 2003 at 19.

Ronaldo’s mother, Dolores Aveiro, has always spoken of her desire for her son to return to Portugal and we know how much he values his mother's opinions and feelings. Portugal is the most romantic option and I doubt any club in the country would say no if they could make it work.

Others?

Elsewhere he can be gotten at 10/3 to join an MLS club which would certainly suit his lifestyle, he could join Messi at Inter Miami or go to Seattle Sounders and still play at the Club World Cup.

He is currently priced at 7/2 to sign for Any Mexican club like Pachuca who will play at the Club World Cup and is the same price to join CF Monterrey who will also play at the Club World Cup.

He can be gotten at 4/1 to join Any South American club with Fluiminense, River Plate, Flamengo, Botafogo and Palmeiras all travelling to America.
