With the Dublin Racing Festival now behind us and all eyes turning towards Cheltenham, we got the chance to chat with BoyleSports Horse Racing Ambassador Robbie Power.

Ballyburn and Slade Steel were two horses of Henry De Bromhead that caught the eye at the weekend as they finished 1st and 2nd in that order in a Grade 1 Novices’ Hurdle at Leopardstown.

Power was speaking to our Brian O’Keeffe and offered up some insight as to what races the De Bromhead yard will be targeting for Ballyburn and Slade Steel.

Brian from BoyleSports: Obviously plenty of Henry's horses ran really well at the weekend. Slade Steel was an eye-catcher behind Ballyburn when dropping down in trip. He must have a big chance in the Baring Bingham at Cheltenham?

Slade Steel To The Baring Bingham While Ballyburn in ‘Banker’ Territory

Robbie Power: Yeah, you'd like to think so. He was very impressive over two and a half in Navan and back down to the minimum trip in Leopardstown. He ran a cracking race, he’s a very, very good horse and he was probably beaten by an exceptional horse.

So Ballyburn to go to the Supreme Novices, he’d be very, very hard to beat in that and then Slade Steel can go to the Baring Bingham.

So yes, it was a great run and two exceptional horses and Ballyburn looks banker material for Cheltenham and hopefully Slade Steel can get his day as well.
