Rhasidat Adeleke Medal Odds

Rhasidat Adeleke is a 12/1 shot with BoyleSports to follow in the footsteps of Daniel Wiffen, Rhys McClenaghan, Kellie Harrington, Paul O’Donovan & Fintan McCarthy and score gold in Paris, after progressing to the 400m women’s final on Friday.

The Tallaght native clocked the sixth fastest heat time as she progressed straight into the 400m sprinting finale after finishing second to Salwa Eid Nasar in their semi-final heat to become the first-ever Irishwoman to claim a spot in the final eight in an Olympic sprint final.

Nasar (4/1) ran out a dominant winner of the heat in a time that was 0.7 seconds faster than she had clocked throughout the year, but it’s Marileidy Paulino (2/7) that will be Adeleke’s toughest adversary in the final according to the oddsmakers.

Adeleke’s Biggest Rivals

The Dominican star is a dual World Champion having claimed gold in the women’s 400m in 2022 and 2023 and holds a silver Olympic medal from the Tokyo Games in 2021. Having won her opening heat by over a second, Paulino cruised to victory in her semi-final easing down considerably in the final 20 metres to record the second-fastest time behind Adeleke’s conqueror, Nasar.

While Adeleke may find it tough to seize the gold medal from the grasps of Paulino, the Irish sprinting sensation is rated a 6/4 chance (boosted from evens with BoyleSports) to scoop a medal and add to the burgeoning collection of seven Team Ireland medals in Paris.

Brian O’Keeffe, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said:

“Rhasidat Adeleke faces a tough task in the women’s 400m final, but she has shown us before what she’s capable of on the track and is a well-backed even money shot to score at least a bronze medal.”
