Cats marginal favourites over Tipp to book place in final
Cork are now odds-on 8/11 favourites (from 11/10) with BOYLE Sports to lift the Liam MacCarthy Cup after a renewed gamble marked the Rebels as the team to beat.
Pat Ryan’s side will face Dublin in their semi-final date on Saturday and are heavy favourites at 1/6 to emerge victorious over the Boys in Blue (6/1), who will be brimming with confidence after dumping out Limerick in the quarter-finals.
Corkmen Lead Player of the Year Odds
A trio of Corkmen also head the betting to be crowned Player of the Year, with Brian Hayes and Darragh Fitzgibbon earmarked as the men to watch at Croke Park as 9/4 joint-favourites, while Patrick Horgan, all-time top scorer in the championship, is an 8/1 chance.
While the oddsmakers are forecasting a one-sided affair at HQ on Saturday, betting remains on a knife-edge between Kilkenny and Tipperary. The Cats are just edging favouritism at 5/6 over Liam Cahill’s side (11/8), and the Leinster champions are rated Cork’s biggest danger in the outright market at 3/1.
Brian O’Keeffe, spokesperson for BOYLE Sports, said:
“Two brilliant clashes await this weekend in Croke Park but as punters look at what’s to come later this month, their confidence is growing that the Red Army will descend en masse on Dublin and watch the Rebels end their 20-year All-Ireland drought.”
